A button up and blazer with no tie looks better than a t shirt under a blazer for a conference. T shirt and blazer is cool for more casual occasions.ย

Very douchey. Are you a club promoter? ;)ย

Always button-up instead. Can be a casual or coloured one - like a nice tan/cream/khaki/blue can make it less formal, but still work-appropriate.

Far superior to a full suit (which I'll never wear for a job), and if coupled with a nice pair of jeans-I don't see why not.ย  I also won't wear a blazer either, so I'm dual-biased LOL

Here in the Bay Area, a suit is often met with suspicion (unless you are a banker or sell life insurance). ย

Truly depends on your audience, market, etc. Some industries are chock full of โ€œold schoolโ€ people. I bought 3 suits in my last gig.ย

Post covid world could be very different though - fuck it, wear a t-shirt.ย

edit: a **nice** t shirtย

Conferences I'd go sport coat, button up, dark jeans and personally I go with like Vans or other super comfy shoe, but also will rock some Allen Edmunds or some such too.ย  On your feet all day though, I go comfort.ย ย

This is not up for debate. Always a button up! unless you're wearing your company provided light cotton tee shirt.

Rule #2 to live by "Be the best dressed in the room. People will notice."

Conference = suit, IMO. This look is great at the office, though. You know to show you are better than everyone else.

Depends where you are at. If you canโ€™t predict the d-code for the event you probably shouldnโ€™t be there. Blazer T-shirt has its place.
