Twilio

Just got a pretty solid offer from Twilio, how does the community feel about the company? Solid RSU package and great pay for such a large tech company.

Can you sell APIs? Do you know how to find an active project in an engineering org? They were first to market so their product is sticky and difficult to replace. Reps are paid 1.5 month after EOQ. All of the good leads and major accounts have been snatched up by tenured AEs. It’s a consumption based model, so seller beware. Training and onboarding is outdated and so is your SDR’s outreach. Reps don’t get PIPed, a lot of them coast. Good luck and Godspeed because you will need it. The company has a lot of tech debt. Want to sell Segment? Tell your customer to log into a different portal. Also, who the hell wants to build their own contact center with a bunch of APIs? 😂You’re competing with Cisco in the contact center space.

Actually in Contact Center today, you’re usually replacing Cisco. Twilio typically competes with Amazon Connect, as that’s the closest offering to theirs. Not really much better though to compete against Amazon. I work for one of the big CCaaS companies and we NEVER see Twilio anymore, but I’d imagine they have their own niche prospects that do want to build, however small that is.

Hint hint - Connect is actually powered by Twilio 🤫

I love Twilio, they really know what they are doing. In my most humble opinion, they are in the top 3 for contact center technology and communications APIs. I used to work for the BDR team of one of their biggest competitors. Best of luck!

We used them at my last job and it was solid compared to what we switched from.

I would check repvue and see if you can talk to some AEs that are there to get better insights.

As a product they are doing awesome, as a company I would definitely research more.

In what regard? All the publicity I have seen from a culture standpoint seems solid. Anything specific you're alluding to?

I will not take any publicity for its face value. Talking to people within will give me more confidence.

There are so many companies that look cool from out but they are not really

I work in the Martech space and second Diablo. Amazing company (big allocation of my portfolio) with a bright future, but I'd steer very clear due to their culture. Source: Worked alongside their reps across Segment and Twilio and have current colleagues that are ex Segment/Twilio, none of which recommend.

Check Blind too, Twilio is in a super growth mode, there were rumblings about their unlimited vacation issues.

Curious about the same also, recruiter reached out to me to interview also. My current company uses them when we have company wide meetings and such.
