What do you include in a quote? Selling to schools and districts.

What do you include when a school or a district asks for a quote? We are a small Norwegian edtech startup, new to sales in the US. What do we include when a school or a district asks for a quote? Do they expect a price or a 5 page document with a,b,c?

As much as I want to say for you to "show your work" they actually like RFPs to be simple and for you to not show your work unless they ask for it. so keep it simple and follow instructions.

sometimes when you add things in, they will DQ you. Make you you clarify and ask questions to corner their exact wants.

Exactly what they ask for in the RFP. They will state the rules clearly.

This exactly.

If there's any doubt about what they want, however, ask. "How would you like this formatted?" is a great question.

Congratulations on getting a request for a quote!

Quote and MSA are different. Quote is simply what they are getting for how much and how long along with payment terms or any other conditions.

In the quote:
Annual total cost
- Licensing fee
- Implementation fee
- custom work/ integration fee

in a separate document which I would call a Statement of Work (SOW):

- i would include more details about what you will handle during implementation
- timeframes ect

I like to break it into separate docs, pricing/products/terms in one. And the ROI/How this helps in another

It depends. Are they just asking for pricing? Is it a formal RFP? If it's just a casual "What does this cost?" question, just give pricing if it's easy for you to do. Our pricing is based off of student population and number of schools in the district, so it's a simple calculation.

If it's a formal RFP or they ask to see terms, you'd do provide everything requested.
