What would be a good route for me to transition from strictly technical roles to software sales role?

been more on the technical side of things since i was fresh out of college. i do have some sales experience, but my background tends to lean more into the tech side.

been thinking of making the move from tech role to more of a Sales Engineer role or something that combines tech with sales. Financially, it seems like their is more opportunity than just continuing down the strictly technical route.

what are my options going forward? is this a good move or should i stick with the technical route? is it worth it to make the switch if i am content with my current role? is it possible to have some form of a tech sales role part time or contract to keep my current technical role to test the waters out?

i see many people that are on the sales/account management/customer success side making equal or more money than tech people, which is a bit disheartening because i am truly passionate about tech.

feeling a bit lost on where to go.

Technical Account Manager or TAM seems the best

Agreed. A move to TAM might be a good stepping stone between the current role and the sales side

I do enjoy it but at the same time the harder I work, the same salary I make. I want the ability to make more of an impact and therefore more money.

I had thought there were paths for promotion, however. Get past certain steps into other levels, move to principal roles, etc. Is that not an option? Just curious.
Yes, sales will provide you the opportunity to make commission, but the base rate has to be enough to pay the bills because no matter how golden you are as a rep, there will be months/quarters/even years where you don't hit the quota, no matter how hard you work. Just bear that in mind.
And what others have said - SC or AM at a tech company could be a good step.
