High base, plus its taxed less
Hey not trying to be a know it all or anything but I feel like this is a common enough misconception that I should say something - commission pay is only typically withheld at a higher rate - itโs not actually taxed any differently than your standard income. End of the year you add up your base and commission and figure out your where you land on the tax bracket carousel
True, but when you think about Net Present Value and 99% of reps would rather have the money get taxed at a normal rate on the paycheck.
Base, I'd be better at my job and life with less income anxiety.
Fair point, I agree with the less anxiety from a higher base!

it depends on how the ratio works out. how accelerators work on said commission, etc.
In general, a higher commission plan is much better for top performers due to the ability to make more per deal, and a higher. base plan is better for your middle of the pack and lower performing reps.

My sales cycles are LONG....higher base every time
Definitely higher base - some months are bad, need that base for sure.
Higher base, that way I can determine my living expenses and budget accurately.
higher base. but there are alot of factors here. but the higher the base, the better life my family can have and the less stress there is.

Definitely higher base, I like the guarantee. That being said, when I have huge months, I also think how nice it would be to be higher commission...
If I wasn't married with children and didn't absolutely need to have a steady paycheck to depend on, I'd be fine with higher commish/lower base. But alas, that's not the case.
Less pressure with a higher base, easy decision. Better for peace of mind and investing.
Commission. I like to controll how much money i make
Always base, but even more so as you move from your 20s in your 30s (think increased fixed costs like mortgage, raising a family etc). Also, there is the piece of mind that comes with it.
