Where am I going wrong here where looking for work.

I left the healthcare industry after 12 years for the vaccination requirements in 2020.

Found myself a job remotely in healthcare data that didn't work out

Spent the first half of 2022 leading sales for an NFT project (300k in sales in 4 months)

Spent the last half leading partnerships and brand building for a KYC verification company.

Having made the decision to leave the Web3/Crypto space I am finding it next to impossible to get any interest outside of solar sales and life insurance

Missed quota once in 13 years. Ran sales and operations for 2 companies in the last 12 months just feel like something is missing and can't seem to pinpoint.

I'm not even limiting roles by title. Happy to take a "step back" to move ahead in a company that I can get behind.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated!

damn sounds like your super qualified.

i would really think about your resume and how you are marketing your self.

do you think your experience in the Web3/crypto/NFT space is a turn off to other industries?

Unfortunately, I think that might be the case... The FTX scandal has done irreparable damage to that whole industry in terms of perception.

Moreover NFT projects are synonymous with scams in many people's minds

yeah it sounds like leading with your experience in healthcare is a great idea. even if you have to set up your resume in a unique way so that ppl see that experience first.

It’s why I left ultimately. Great product in a crap industry is still crap

Honestly I thought this might be the case, but 30+ partnerships managed each with a separate structure, deal flow etc. designing a web specific sales process, running a sales organization of a service for NFT projects (not a scam nft project) all valuable skill sets and highlights

But clouded in darkness of the space

Curious what industries are you focusing in? Is it just a lack of interviews that’s causing the problem?

The market has cooled but maybe look at you resume if you not getting initial interviews. Make sure to copy and paste from Job Descriptions so recruiters know you are a fit at first glance.

This is a good point, I don’t cater the resume too much since I’m not really specifying what role I’m looking for, I’m broad with my approach, I’ll take anything if it is something I can see myself getting behind, if that makes sense

It’s better to match it with the job description. Show people what they want to see and not what you want them to see :)

Seeing ur resume Have you looked into getting back into the orthopedic area? I know the J&J Codman division (Raynham MA) was looking for people at one point. There's plenty of Medical Device companies in New England. I also believe Zoll Medical is looking for a territory manager

Thanks
The dilemma there is that I refuse to get vaccinated and that field requires it to work in it

It’s tough out there now! I definitely understand the desire to really believe in your work. Since you sound open to different things, try looking for just companies you can get behind first, like do you want remote or in person? Start with a Google list of best companies to work for in your area or mission driven ones. Also check out some startups that may need advising/consulting or contract sales work.

Sometimes we go through dry spells regardless of how qualified we are. The times I felt like nothing was happening or I couldn’t get interviews were the times I fell into the best positions in my career.

It’s pretty disheartening tbh, makes you wonder why you push hard for years to get where you are only to be non valuable so to speak

Not trying to be political here - but if you're telling hiring managers or recruiters that you left the HC industry because of "vaccination requirements in 2020," that's an HR red flag. Especially for Fortune 1000 companies.

No harsh feelings here, would love for you to explain more.
I worked in the operating rooms and it was a mandated requirement.
I decided against the mandate and was subsequently out of a career.
Additionally and this is of course personal preference.
I may not be able to get a fortune 1000 job but if a company mandates their employees to do anything that they don't feel comfortable doing, There are other opportunities out there.

I can tell you that corporate decisions are made based on vax status. Employers can require vaccination so long as they are willing to make religious or medical accommodations in appropriate cases - the EEOC guidelines have been released to the public.

My last company's offsite SKO could only be attended by employees who were vaccinated against COVID. As a sales leader I didn't know anyone's vax status at that point b/c I didn't ask and had no reason to know as we were 100% remote anyways. HR had specific requirements and they were the ones to talk to every employee - those of us who attended needed to show proof of vaccination.

I have also seen more than a few sales jobs where COVID vaccination is listed as a requirement. It has to do with liability.

If asked about vax status, be honest in an interview. But if not, I would simply say when asked about why you left HC, "I no longer agreed with the company's policies and we decided to part ways."

That's my advice - good luck in your search.

I would always find the industry that I want to join rather than being too broad. It can help me shortlist some companies, go through the roles, tweak my resume and apply. I also suggest networking as it helps especially people like who’s qualified enough for the role. All the best !

I’m not saying employers can’t do it. It’s there business they set the rules. But if I’m building a career with a company whose ideologies I can’t align with then why bother building a career there?

So you’re saying corporate decisions are biased towards those people who are vaccinated? (Whether or not it’s required)

I’d be interested to understand where the logic in that is.
