In my opinion, we live in a world of mediocrity and the majority are unwilling to put in the hard work to get better. That is why we have the 80/20 rule in sales, where 20% produces 80% of the revenue within a company.

- They see folks without any common sense earning more than them, and in a better place in life.
- They see folks not encouraging them / not getting any incentive to whatever work they are doing on themselves / overlooked and underappreciated all the time. So they'd rather drop this than deal with working on themselves + Not being encouraged or appreciated
- They don't know why they are working on themselves: for others? if so, the above point is valid. If not, if it is for themselves then they would keep hitting dead-ends again and again. No proper guidance.
So yeah, multiple things.

I generally find that the people that people who aren't willing to put in the time either:
* Don't know what they don't know (are in a state of unconscious incompetence).
* Have a victim mentality where they blame external people/factors for their lack of success, thereby avoiding responsabilities.
* A combination of both of these factors.
