Most SDRs are already doing a good job of getting rid of themselves lol

I`ll put it like this: winter is not coming for quality SDRs, the rest - good riddance :)

I don't think so, but I do think inbound SDRs and those who don't do heavy prospecting/outbound are gonna have a tough time once AI ramps up to scale.

I think emails will be largely automated soon. You will still need to cold call as an SDR, but seeing as a majority of sdrs suck at cold calling they will probably be at higher risk of losing their job.

No, it will help good SDR's stand out more and make more.

AI will be good at the things that are formulaic and easily automated.

For instance, putting together cadences / sequences and executing them.

Where AI will struggle is where creativity is required. For example, when overcoming objections.

AI will likely replace the production of content, structuring of outreach, and execution of automated outreach. But AI will struggle to replace someone on the phone who can quickly build trust and schedule next steps.

So - If you're just sending emails and clicking thru your SalesLoft or Outreach dashboard without picking up the phone or going out to events... yes AI will likely replace you.

For closing roles, AI will also struggle on how to structure the best deal and win the trust of the customer. Outside AE's, particularly in highly complex sales, will be one of the safer jobs when it comes to the threat of AI replacement.

It is unlikely that AI will completely get rid of SDRs or outbound sales. While AI can assist in identifying and prioritizing leads, and even automate certain tasks such as sending follow-up emails, it cannot entirely replace the human touch and relationship building that is required in sales. SDRs and outbound sales representatives provide a level of personalization and communication that AI simply cannot replicate. AI can enhance and streamline the sales process, but human interaction and relationship building will still be necessary for successful sales outcomes.
