Advice/prospecting tips

I’d love some advice/recommendations around my current situation.

Recently got promoted to AE at the beginning of last month, however still don’t have a territory yet, and was told by my manager to go prospect into one of our international territories. I’ve also got a list of accounts in no specific territory scattered across the US.

Should I just go 100mph into finding opportunities into the open international territory, or split time between that and some of the accounts I have in the US? Any other thoughts to finding additional accounts?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Look at your current customer list so you know what clients you can reference. Start with similar companies/competitors as that is the lowest hanging fruit typically in any AE role.

1. Check out closed dead ops and see if anything died for a dumb (sales person error) or temporary reason. Try and reach out to restart things. Low probability but also a low effort way to get some pipeline built up.

2. Look at your current customer base and see if you can find accounts in the US or International that line up well with them based on type of company, size, etc. Then focus on them to start.

3. Burn up the phones. This is a great opportunity to show the bosses that you can make it rain. With a pretty loose ask of you, coming back with a nice pipeline will really stand out.

If you have tools like ZoomInfo and Crunchbase, those are great places to start/ find lookalikes (at least domestically).

For international, I know the privacy laws are much more strict and the International AEs at my company see a lot of success prospecting via LinkedIn.

IMO International is always going to have more challenges, time zone, language barrier, etc... Definitely put at least 30% of your time into the domestic market.

Later down the line once you have a customer and you've solved a problem for them, ask for a referral.
