We have a bootcamp (1 week) and then a training session with an outside group (classes spread out over a month) and SKO (1 week) to catch up new products/value props. No real 1 on 1 stuff with managers as we pretty much are well oiled machines lol

I went from feedback on every pitch, to 1/10, to zero feedback. So my perspective is off. But do they ever ghost on a pitch every once in a while to check in? Do you think they should?

They will sit in on calls periodically and we will do call reviews. I personally dont need too much checking in as I found a process that works and stick to it.

We don't have any formal session in place but I keep sending some call recordings to my Manager and also write down some challenges I had the past week that we discus in out 1-on-1

Rarely. We don't have any type of call recordings and no formal training. It's still the wild wild west. Startup world.

30 minute weekly 1-1 with my direct manager. Some of it can be coaching sometimes it’s really just a check in. We also have a weekly or biweekly coaching session where I’ll send him a gong call and then we go through it highlight the good and areas of improvement. I actually like it a lot and have seen it be beneficial multiple times.

Not enough.

We had a sales demo competition - everyone in the company watched a live demo and rated us. I was so excited to get some real feedback.

They cancelled the competition - every team hated our sales script. My SVP has to rewrite before the contest is back on. I asked for the feedback still. Never heard back.

So now I'm waiting on a rewrite that will take a quarter so I can get feedback on my pitch after 9 months here.

I personally have not gotten coached since I started at this company about two years ago. It probably has something to do with the simplicity of the product, but I'm all for the always learning mindset & would appreciate a solid coaching session

thanks for the comment. pretty damn shocking that lots of folks aren't getting consistent coaching and then companies want them to hit their numbers out of the park.

I don't have formal coaching from my manager.   We are small, so I have had my manager + the VP in on some demos/presentations, and have had them both help with demo prep.  Other than that, nothing.

Occasional opportunity review calls that are always “have you thought about X”
Also the opportunities are selected by upper management so coached on deals based on $ size not necessarily things that I need coaching on.
That is the extent 🙃

Coaching in our organization is an every day occurrence but only if you seek it out.  If sales people are sitting at their desk waiting for coaching then it's just not going to happen.

Probably not - I think it's fine for a little bit but eventually best practices move and if you aren't always practicing and updating the job just becomes unnecessarily more difficult.

I don’t think my last boss listened to a single call i had over all of 2021- he just cared if my monthly performance spreadsheet wasn’t filled out

Pretty standard to have a 1-on-1 meeting once a week but it doesn’t always include coaching and even when it does, it isn’t always useful.
