Any idea on how to get past a Salesforce Recruiter screen?

So this is going to be my 4th time interviewing with Salesforce and I have a recruiter screen this Friday. The first 3 times, my experiences were the same as that of others I knew who interviewed. Recruiter screen where the recruiter is fake nice to you but then moments to hours later, an automated rejection email.

I have tried to sidestep the screen after the 2nd time but it always goes to a recruiter (all of who tend to be of the same demographic btw). This time, I got the conversation going because a friend of mines is an AE at Salesforce and he wanted to refer me, he even put in a good word with the recruiter and Intro'D her to me by email today.

However, I do not see how this time around will be different. Can anyone speak to getting past the dreaded recruiter screens for Salesforce?

Why do you want to work for them so badly if all they do is dump you off at the first step?

Recent layoffs, not enough desks at their HQ Tower, said HQ Tower is very phallic...not an environment I'd want to be a part of.

I wouldn't want to willingly work anywhere that "forced" me to do my job in an office without properly meeting my needs.

Because I am so sick and tired of working for startups that lay you off on a moment's notice, don't even give you proper severance because they don't have the cash, and you are a career job hopper because you have to keep changing jobs. I want to work at a big brand name company and hate em or love em, Salesforce is one of them. Believe me when I say that there were things about them I hated.

Have you simply ignore recently layoffs in their sales org?

well, the severance and WARN at a company like Salesforce is pretty generous. You may still be gone, but you have time and full pay while you search.

Your reasons for working for SFDC seems to lack any substance. I wish you luck, but if you think a big brand is going to solve your stability woes then you may find out that roses lenses are just that…the hard way.

You seem to have a vendetta against SFDC, never even asked me why I want to actually work there, just dissed them and then asked me to play defense.

Be critical of yourself in those interviews, with recruiters sometimes you go to bring the energy and excitement also.

Are you saying pay ranges that might be too high for the role? Maybe check with your friend on pay ranges

I highly recommend talking about all the great things your friends says about SFDC and how your values align.

Look through the job description, treat it like a check list. When you walk through your experience make sure to mention a story that matches each bullet point

Was interviewing with them last year for mid-market AE. They said I’d be a better fit for the SMB segment which is one rung lower, I said okay and interviewed for that role. They said I’d be a better fit for small biz which is another rung down. I said no.

Apparently, this was a common practice. Get em in applying for a higher role and try to do a switcheroo into a more junior position.

Some of these companies get so high up their own ass, it’s not worth bending over backwards trying to figure out what the hell it is they’re looking for.

Don’t give em the satisfaction if they try it.

Small biz sounds like a trap. Limited to selling to companies with a 50 headcount max. Fuck that.

Can't speak to it.

But, can you do anything, maybe even somewhat drastically, to stand out during this process?

What vertical are you interviewing? Maybe bring a quick demo showing how you tentatively prospected an ICP?

Assuming you're in your 20's/early 30s..as am I.

This is the most competitive job market we've ever seen. You're likely competing against people from extremely well known companies that were laid off, attained quota month over month/YoY and were still laid off without more than a day of notice.

Love the persistence. Keep going.

Best of luck at first, however I recommend you not to pursue this offer that much, as even after getting hired let's say which is something I do hope for you still no guarantees of not having a layoff, I would rather focus on the rejection reasons I received on that email and only reapply if I no longer have any of em.

I would still keep it in mind NP if I were you, but only as a Plan B!

curious on why you want to work for a company so much that clearly doesn't think you a good fit for them?

I’ve been through the process at Salesforce multiple times. Worked there, left, reinterviewed and got an offer, but decided to stay in the series A/B world for one more go-around. My original mistake was shooting too high, they typically want industry experience for ENT aes. Mid-market still had a lot of complexity and larger deal sizes and can be easier to get in to. Also, always use a referral to get in. They hire like 70% or so off of referrals.

They look for empathy, self awareness, and depending on the role you’re interviewing for, a level of complexity and internal collaboration/selling at previous roles. They can sniff bullshit a mile away, they talk to people all day long. SF gets over a million applications per year I believe, or some crazy number like that. Selling at Saleaforce is a different skill set than start ups, it’s much more corporate and defined, with a lot more internal selling, strategizing and alignment.

What role are you interviewing for? Maybe I can provide some feedback.

CORE AE, just got moved up past the recruiter screen

The referral at Salesforce gave me the name of the recruiter and I found the email of the person. Should I email the person?

Have an introductory call with the Salesforce recruiter. How should I proceed next? I'm keeping my hopes in check.
