Name the companies you’re interested in. Lots of turds in both.

I agree. Another option would be gitlab but mongodb seems like the strongest player

I did a quick Google. Never heard of them before and I spent years in cloud security. They're going to face huge uphill battle. Id avoid.

Ex Gitlab here, DevSecOps is saturated AF, two paths here, point solution of consolidator. Point solutions are easy to sell to the team, hard to roll out to the enterprise.
Consolidators are difficult to sell, but bigger contract sizes, you effectively need buy in from multiple teams, e.g Developers for Git, operations for toolstack implementation, security for CICD and auditing, infrastructure for releasing and monitoring.
You're selling to one team vs many really. It's nice space don't get me wrong, but it is mature.

This guy looks like he knows what he's talking about.

Personally, I have no clue. I would listen to @SgtAE and @braintank though.

MongoDB is a godzilla-sized turd. Go read the Glassdoor reviews and make sure to read the upvoted ones, not the ones that say "MOST AMAZING COMPANY EVER" (tenure: one week).

If you're curious I've typed out a much longer response about MDB before, I'm sure you can find with the search bar.

I know the team there already, the culture seemed to have improved, in addition they offer a great sales education and very good conditions.

Also, technical people I know and trust who told me 3 years ago to stay away are now champions of the product.

I was impressed in the interview process about the sort of questions I was asked, I can imagine that it depends on the region though.

Well, I just wanna say every perspective is different. I get your perspective, but the grass is always greener from the other side.

The sales leadership hasn't changed there at all in the last 5 years really and they created the culture to begin with, so how different can it really be?

I'm not out here to have a chip on my shoulder, but you really gotta do the research on Glassdoor. There's a reason those AE reviews come up time and time again with all the same themes.
