Do you think the first 10 seconds can make or break the call??

Each company and C-level is different. do some quick research and know your audience. A CTO and a CFO are going to be completely different conversation openings. One is tech and the other is money.
Know how you can help them do X and then explain Y and follow through with finding time to discuss what you do. It's a 5-minute (rarely that long) conversation max. 2-3 minutes is typically all you're going to get to make an impression and get an appointment.

Some good advice here. I'll add this:
Just pick up the damn phone. Don't shy away from it, and don't get discouraged.
A lot of execs don't give a damn about what you're saying, but the right ones will and you can find them.

Talk to them like they’re people, not some c level exec in a suit in a stuffy office. Just have a normal convo, and have no attachment to the outcome. Get the meeting - good, don’t get the meeting - good.

Be human and make sure it’s well researched. Write down all the objections you get and make bullet points to touch on when you answer those.

Retweeting @antiASKHOLE here. Just be a person and don't beat around the bush. Ask straight forward questions that speak directly to the value add you're trying to bring.

Less is more. 2-5 minutes is the suite spot. Execs don't have time to listen to a pitch slap. Ideally - send a good tailored email first and then use that as the framework for a call and why you are following up. Once you've piqued interest - go for the meeting.

Hype yourself up before the call(s), you don't want to have them answer and go into it sounding bored and tired (like you probably are in reality after making all those calls).

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
Immediately give them a business reason to be on the phone with you. Or name drop.
