Deal Advice

I sell to a flaky buyer group that often doesn't like to give bad news and feel like I'm losing a deal.

Context: I got a verbal from them on Friday and need to send over contract details for them to sign by EOW - we don't have any other window to close this due to existing contracts.

The verbal was given at noon on Friday and I followed up asking for info needed to send over a contract. She's gone dark so far and I'm worried about following up too much.

I'm hoping she's just busy but am paranoid that things changed. Anyway, looking for advice on when to follow up without making things awkward. Any pointers?

Update : got her on the phone. The verbal wasn't a real verbal.... we aren't her choice yet even though she said that 2 days ago.

Update 2: I never heard back from her

Call again, leave a voicemail, and send an email saying you are following up.

I have had this happen a few times. Sometimes, patience is the way to go. Other times is just push through the awkwardness and call to get it signed right there. Chances are, you aren't being awkward.

Isn't that just the BEST update?!

Ugh, why can't prospects just be forthright

lol, I also got a "we're pushing this back to November 1st" from a prospect with a contract in hand. Do they get off on building up and then destroying our hopes?

My prospects have strong pull out games. This is the third deal that pulled something like this to me this month

The most frustrating part is that this has been one of my best sales processes this year. I'm still in it, but I had it in a verbal/legal stage and now need to mentally move it back to more of a "prove" stage

if you need to move it back in the real CRM do that!

dont let a deal sit in a stage its not actually in.

I would reach out in twice today if they still havent responded, send them an email saying it seems like its not a priority. That should get a response, maybe not the one you want but a response

Lol the response I got was basically, "I lied about having made my decision"

What! Is it a no or they need more time?

more time, but we're looking to unseat an incumbent. She's going to likely mull over the switching process so that may kill the deal.

That's how I'll probably feel at the end of the week. Not yet though!

hopefully not. You're probably building it up too much in your head though.

I'm in a very similar situation right now, currently trying to play the patience game since they asked for something but aren't taking my calls
