Do reps in your team meetings complain about why they suck at sales?

We have meetings twice a week and during our round robins reps complain about common problems in sales like low connect rates or bad leads. I hate it. I hate it because I do what I need to in order to hit my numbers and don't craft excuses. Because of the complaining, I never look forward to team meetings.

Do you have the same problem?

Do people complain about stupid shit in your team meetings?

Tune it out and just focus on yourself. No reason to dread a meeting that happens for an hour once a week

I know. There's just things I'd rather be doing than listening to reps whine about low connect rates

Sounds like your manager is contributing to the loser mindset.Β  He or she needs to control that, but if it's not being controlled right now, there's no hope.

I can understand venting your frustrations, but at some point you become part of the problem rather than trying to solve the problem.

No matter what, there always seem to people who will complain. Like @MrMotivationΒ said, tune it out and don't let their drama drag you down.Β

This is extremely common and not always a bad thing. Some reps just haven't thought outside the box and figured out what to do to increase those connection rates/get better leads. As an SDR one thing that would help you stand out is offering ideas to these reps in the meeting. I don't know if you all compete as SDRs or if you have different areas. But if you have different areas I would say offer help. If they don't accept it or change anything then there is no need for you to worry. They must not want it to get better.

Thank you for your suggestion to offer help. I have and I want reps to be better because more competition makes us better. I'm going to talk with my manager about controlling the loser mindset in our sales meeting.Β

I like the way you are thinking. The β€˜loser’ mindset is one way to look at it for sure because you can’t complain when you’ve already given up. I would suggest this. Soften your approach when you talk to your manager and offer to lead the conversation in your meeting. Come with a plan and possibly some actionable ideas for your peers. Being prepared and running with things like this will only help you, especially if you want to move up the ladder.

instead of why the suck simply change to how can I help or what are you presently struggling with? It's small change but that change means that you are accepting that you are in a hard time and you will get out of it, instead of you being the issue.Β
