Do you pick up the check all the time when you go out with your prospect until closing? Or is it just the first time?

I read a post that talked about the amount and number of times a salesperson should pick up the check. So putting the question to y'all

How often do you pick up the check?

In my experience I have picked up the check every time, but I think that also has to do with who made the invite. If you're inviting them out to a lunch/dinner/event, then you should be picking up the tab.ย

Sales can expense it no questions asked. A prospect would have a hard time justifying "I took a potential vendor out to lunch and paid for their meal".

That is so true. Picking up the check is an integral part of sales process

Whenever you invite a prospect, or a customer, or someone out for a business lunch I feel that the person that setup the meeting should pick up the check. So yes, I feel that you should pick up the check every time you go out to eat with a prospect.

Makes sense and seems logical too. You'll just be offending them otherwise since they came all the way to meet you for youย

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
This is why we can expense things. Pick up the check.

Who is that One Prospect that you're going to keep chasing no matter if they never call you back (be specific or not)?

How do you all handle a situation where a prospect has a contract approved and is ready for signature, but one of their family members just passed away? Want to be extremely sensitive to the situation...feel there's never a "right" time to reach out and never want to be salesy...
