First line leaders: How do they help you?

I am curious to hear from individual contributors, especially closers; How would your ideal first line leader provide the most value to you in your current role?

obviously all leaders have strengths and weaknesses. so more hypothetical then based on your current leader's skills.

what would the ideal leader do with consistency, that would be the most value to you?

any horror stories of trying to manage up, where leaders have been way off in their priorities, or great leaders, of course welcome

Hands on for most of the day to day, but cut through tape quickly when I need escalations.

Note: a pet peeve is when you ask a leader for help, but they push back with 15 questions before jumping in

Air cover/having your back with commission and disagreements with management, keeping you clear of BS that doesn't provide any value with internal stuff, escalations, and expertise/bringing in resources and playing the right role when needed on a call/in a deal.

This coming from someone with a good bit of experience, but absolutely at any level a good manager has your back and will stand up for you and actively help however you may need it
