Gong CSM called out our sales team to our management

So my director is very cool with the sales team and people who report to him.

he had a meeting with us where he showed us some newer features that gong offers and said the CSM called out our team because next meeting booked were below the average they see in other sales orgs.

Now I’m a reasonable person but never in my life have I wanted to kick someone’s teeth in more than this person I have never met…

anybody else got stories like this?

This is where these crazy funding rounds rear their ugly head. People get over inflated confidence, get so ingrained in their brands. The circle jerks on LI. Bottom line they aren’t selling stuff that is fun. Don’t let the blue haired pansy tell you otherwise. Sales professionals produce value to their customers in the form of a product or service or In tandem. Sales cults that are really stripped down enablement revops peasants will see it all trickle away when all that fat funding percolates to the top 1% to the org, VCs, etc.

Wow... that's pretty low. That being said, I don't think my leadership would listen to an outside CSM telling him that "we're below avg".

I had our team get Gong turned off. It was super invasive and we had multiple prospects complain that the calls were recorded without NDA. I have yet to meet a rep that actually finds Gong valuable… it’s normally sales enablement pushing it super hard but no one actually uses it in the field. Their CSMs are all like this unfortunately, ours apparently did something similar.

I think it is a tactic they are told to do… “tell the customer they are below average and that we can help them by using our tool!”

There's value in Gong but it also enables micromanagement. I've only run into the recording issue once or twice but yeah this rubbed me the wrong way.

We use a Gong competitor and I turned mine off after never feeling the need to review any of my calls and getting asked about it too many times by clients
