Gong's new add-on: Engage

Is anyone working for an organization that has made the change to Gong's new tool, Engage? There are definitely limitations compared to an Outreach or SalesLoft but it is intriguing. Any experience out there?

Gong hires people who can write - and who have good engagement on their LinkedIn. I don't see non-influencer Gong AEs anymore.

Don't take any of this personally - its just my opinion:

Gong is the tool of a weak manager. A good manager will be able to work with their people to help coach them in positive ways and not rely on a solution developed by engineers who were jealous of sales people.

Gong is an expensive way for a manager to look like their are doing the job they were hired to do, without actually doing the job. Its inflexible and "manages" to pre-determined KPI's - KPIs developed by someone who doesn't know your people, company, industry, etc.

(IMO) It violates client and employee privacy in a major way. I don't like having my words (each and every one of them) analyzed and regurgitated to some lame manager type.

It also doesn't align with customer needs as much as Gong wants to pretend it does. It forces reps to say certain things and in certain ways in order to conform to a manager's KPI, but it may not be what the customer needs/wants.

I can go on - but Gong sucks.

I think it depends on how you use the tool and what its intent is. If it's set up and used solely as a way to middle manage your reps and enforce silly things for adherence to some bs KPI's, then yes it would be a horrific tool. If set up and used properly, it can be incredibly insightful. Albeit there are plenty of Gong-built out-of-the-box things I ignore. Sounds like you have had some sh*tty managers.

The statement regarding Gong's actions is ambiguous and could be interpreted in two very different ways. It is unclear whether Gong has given birth to a child or has had a bowel movement.

Is this related to the drama Gong has with Outreach?

Not yet - but I do like the idea of an all in one tool vs 9 different licenses.

I've finally stopped seeing Gong BS on my feed, and am worried any type of search will just bring it back up.
