Have an SDR offer at Dataminr and Databricks, absolutely lost as to who to pick.

Both orgs have similar comp, with Minr having more of a concrete pathing, but Bricks having better quota attainment.

Bricks will also be asking me to relocate to a much more expensive COL state and no longer be remote. These two things are very important to be but i realize the caliber of Bricks and don't want to shoot myself in the foot by just focusing on remote.

Do you guys know anything about these two orgs and whats a better long term pick for a top Enterprise SDR/BDR?

Based on tech I'd choose bricks

Say more about the relocation. Is it ๐Ÿ’ฏ necessary? Are they covering the cost? Will the pay increase make living in higher CoL area reasonable?

My voteโ€™s with Bricks also just based on running into them quasi-competitively. As mentioned, tough to swallow a relocation without $ to compensate for the move AND the local cost of living.

Databricks overhired a few years back, but it's a household name and critical for modern data stack

What's the comp difference?

Something (slightly different) to consider is this: How will this logo look on your resume when interviewing in 2 years or in 5 years?

As an SDR, and someone likely at the beginning of your career, you should heavily consider this. It can help a lot after the Databricks job. A lot more people will reach out with the Databricks logo than would after Minr (assuming they don't become the next Snowflake).

I can tell you from experience that the logos on my resume have opened many doors and put me at a huge advantage, even though I'm not a big logo/public company kind of guy. Having the logo tends to compound effects.

I donโ€™t know anyone at Dataminr but I have worked with 5-10 people who are now at Databricks. The caliber of talent their is insanely strong.

If I was looking for a new role and I wanted to take a role that would be the best for my career (best network, exit opportunities, long term comp potential, etc) Databricks would prob be my first choice in the whole industry.

If you want something more chill itโ€™s probably not going to be Databricks, but if you want to be in the big leagues then itโ€™s ideal

Can't speak to the difference of the two companies, but relocation and no remote would be a massive no for me. That being said, relocation is a lot less common in the Great White North - only a few locations that anyone would really relocate to.

Pick the better boss, who works for an even better top line leader. Plenty of ways to assess the quality of either. DM me if interested. Ignore the comp and pick based on everything else and you will be your best self, produce the best mojo around you, and attract something even better as as a result.

If you're unhappy at home for $5k more, that $400 / month will cost you your next career move (potentially, there are no absolutes here)

I don't know....

Here's what I would do.
Write down the pros and cons for both.
Make sure you write out what is important to you and also why it is important as well -- you already mentioned remote and the flexibility was.

Beyond that, here's other gabble gabble nonsense below.

Relocating for a sales job just makes no sense.

You'll give up all that freedom, pay a ton more for expenses, and then what.....

Can you ask them to change it to remote at all? If not, take the remote role.

Personally, having worked in environments where quota attainment was below 30%, I still made numbers by putting the work in.

Better to work hard at home than work hard for less money because you are paying more.

Either way your job is always in danger.
Take the safer bet and protect yourself.

Bricks sounds great for career.
Minr is also techy though.
Quota attainments percent is important.
Do they both have sales people running the departments? IE: is the VP sales an admin or a true seller, and is that true of everyone else?

Connection got me an interview that I otherwise wouldnt have gotten because of field change, not due to intellect or abilities. Position is managerial and, from what I gathered, stated salary plus bonus. Should I negotiate, which I always do, or go with what they offer?
