How do you find comp pricing?

I used to have many sneaky ways to find out comp pricing in my past jobs. This one seems to be harder.

Who has tips on how to shop for competitor prices?

Every company has at LEAST one client who LOVES everything you do. The ultimate champion. I usually find this person (or people) offer them up a little something (gift card etc) for their time and just ask them questions on the competition. These calls can be massively valuable.

Google seems like a good place to start.

Dig through a bunch of closed lost deals in the CRM to see if pricing has been shared. Then go to all of the Owlr, G2 Crowd, Captera, and other user-review platforms to find out if it's there.

If it's not there, do this: pose as a prospect of your competitors and either A) ask for pricing or B) book a demo and get all the intel you want. Record your screen. Screenshot everything.

It's not illegal, and it's not unethical unless you intend to harm that competitor. They've likely done it to you already.

Is there an easier "shortcut", like asking here anonymously? 🤓

I mean...sure? I'm not going to share our pricing with a random person on this platform given I know what we all do for a profession 😉

Was worth a shot, I used some of the suggestions (yours included) and got my hands on some ranges. Happy weekend!

If you work with or your customers work VARs, poke around with those reps. If you have some friends who are also customers they can usually help too!

Ok quick one: why do you need access to accounts that are not yours? Just asking!
