How do a get to the US of A?

Hey Savages,

I'm in business internet sales, crushing my quotas and #1 in the company. I'm in Canada and the big dream is to someday live in Las Vegas.

I've done some homework on green cards, visas, lotteries, and all the other roads to the promised land, and far and above the easiest and best road seems to be "get a company to hire you and bring you in."

If you've walked this road before or have any ideas/suggestions/tips I'm all ears. If there is anything I can do to help you with your sales world in return I'm at your service. Thanks crew.

I'm Canadian and have looked into this as well.

If you're staying in sales, the only viable option you have is to find a company that's willing to sponsor your visa. You can do this in one of two ways:

1) Join a company in Canada that also has offices in the US, and eventually ask for a transfer.

2) Apply with an American company and try to get them to sponsor you. This option is going to be very tough...it's expensive for a US business to sponsor people, and even if they want to they have to be able to prove that they couldn't have hired an American to do the job. Unless you're a unicorn, most US companies won't want the headache.

I'd go with Option 1.

This is what my research has led me to think as well, always good to hear what you're thinking in someone else's words. I was just hoping there was an option 3 I wasn't aware of.

LOVE IT. Have a family condo down there, love the roads, the driving, the weather, the people, it's phenomenal. I live in -30 where stores stay closed Sundays. Vegas is heaven.

Sorry to hear that. I drove through Regina in December, and it wasn’t too memorable.

As someone who knows the struggle/has tried to migrate south, have you considered something like a Kelowna/Victoria BC?

Relatively expensive, and still shitty Canadian pay, but nowhere nearly as bad as Van/Tor for cost of living, and muuuuch more temperate/warm/pleasant year round in terms of weather and climate.

Vegas is unmistakably Vegas though, no comparison to anything Canadian if that’s what the heart truly desires

i only use Vegas if i have a layover and I never leave the airport. you can see the cretin's in the 10x10 glass gambling boxes with slot machines staring out as they vape themselves to death with a soulless stare into your soul like animals at the zoo as you walk to goodtimes to get a chicken sandwhich & catch your next flight.
