Are you interested in switching within your own company, or is that not an option? If it is an option, then speaking with those managers about the roles and what they're looking for and letting them know you are interested is a great way to switch. Networking will be your friend in this scenario.
Salespeople make awesome marketers if they are doing it for the right reasons. You better have good content development experience or a way to talk the language so you interview well.
