IM INTERVIEWING!!! Few words of wisdom please fellow lunatics ๐Ÿฅฒ๐Ÿช„โ˜ ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž

My very new besties, I have sprayed and prayed, I have done DD, I've done absolutely everything... now I have had one interview already for AN AE ROLE!!!!!ย
At a company that has about 5 employees in the climate tech arena ..... waiting on hearing back from them, but I think the interview went well, they didn't have much of an interview process, it was more of a chat, lots of smiles and good bit of back and forth... I followed up with a bullish email straight after... then again the following day with even more bravery and insights/confirmations of what I bring, I am thinking of piling into them again with even more in another email, perhaps not, thoughts please?ย

Secondly, I have landed a first round interview at a company that sells SaaS platform to help companies filter their lead sources and claims to get up to double conversion rates on won deals ... it just came though today so I am still researching this one, ITS A SDR ROLE...ย
I was ultra bullish on my application, reached out to the hiring manager he didn't reply but clearly read my message and allowed me to first stage... Thoughts and points please?ย

cheers a million folks โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฐย

The WR never ceases to amaze me.

To answer your first question. If i'm the hiring manager and I talk to you and you email me 3 times after the interview I would immediately begin to question how you would treat our prospects and what your EQ is, so no, dont email them again. Do you have a follow up meeting set? If not, that would be a bigger red flag to me than anything.ย

For #2 use the search bar, read the article that Fox just posted.ย

I dont want to be the bearer of bad news but whenever I am interviewing people, especially in the earlier stages, I will outline really clear next steps if I want them to take the next step. If not, I give them a more vague FU similar to what you received and will later inform them we are moving in other directions.ย

Not guaranteed this is the case but decent shot. Id keep looking elsewhere if I were you.ย

also, it gives u the opp to improve, they may be like, 'yeah a few things that worry me about moving you forward, no energy, no experience, no blah blah blah' then you can either handle them and fail, handle them and succeed, improve ur process, and come in here and moan about it till we help u

i would for sure NOT email them again.ย

Ether they are not going to move forward with you, or theirย  follow up sucks and thats a red flag for you.ย

I got the feeling that they are not sales people, more techies with lots of money and didn't have much of an interview process in place, I may be wrong, I may have seen that as its what I wanted to see.. perhaps they just weren't interested in me and didn't want to follow up - I keep thinking that they were looking for specific answers ... who knows!ย

Love to see my post being shared. I shared it with mr Biller last night, I hope it helped, sounds like you're doing the right thing prospecting them out, but dont sound desperate. be confident that you will get the absolute best job you need. make it seem (AS IT FUCKING IS) that YOU are vetting THEM out and are just trying to find the best fit for YOU, because YOU want to succeed, make them confident in the fact that you know wtf u are talking about and if YOU think you're a great fit YOU are. BDE, Confidence, savagery. YOU are the best decision they will ever make. BECAUSE YOU ARE.

I would hold off on that extra email and instead hound out a few more managers for a role, then in interviews be like in the beginning ' full discolsure for transparency, I am interviewing with a few other places', name the companys, the actual ranges, why you're interested, why you'd prefer this company, and what will move the needle FOR YOU, and that you will fully let them know how they progress and what stages they are in.ย

This keeps your bridges in tact should you pick one, if you need to abandon ship, as well drives urgency, shows confidence, and that you are hot talent and to move quickly.ย

You got this.

Remember, the one asking questions controls the interview... and it does NOT sound like you are asking enough questions.ย  Focus on their top performers: what|when|how do they do differently?ย  What should you expect in the first 30/60/90 days and first year?ย  What is the greatest obstacle you should anticipate?ย  .... ask, ask, ask.

Love love love this, I have had such a massive realisation that I know exactly what industry I want to be in, I am just taking stock and really doing my study and homework before I approach my targets. Any further interviews will simply be for practice.

This company is so small, that they are hiring o pay ONE AE and itโ€™s their first one, no SDRโ€™s evenโ€ฆ so if I havenโ€™t got it or even a second interview, then I think it is for the best anyway.

No more selling myself short, I k ow my value but I know I need to research the market ALOTTT more before I burn any more bridges.

You know what, how about making them hear how truly commuted and determined I am? Letting them get more about my plans drip fed if I word it right? And they did come back with an email asking me to ask any more questions and confirmed they are coming back for a second but no date โ€ฆ very torn and confused

No timeline is a no. Any serious stage I progressed in I was given a timeline.

Either way, getting too invested in one job post is nuts.

Sales is a numbers game. Get more serious discussions on the table and leverage them against each other.

Absolutely, Iโ€™m now taking time to research the market before diving back into applying ๐Ÿ˜
