Inside Sales Team Creation

Been tasked with hiring a new inside sales team with multiple (new sales, customer support, virtual install/training) and additional responsibilities to be in field 10-20% of time for customer relationships. I've hired inside sales teams before with just SDR type responsibilities.. Any advice on type of talent I should start with? Tiered hiring schedule. Scope of work set.

So many questions to ask for this answer. Much inbound expected?

Ha! Agree. Didn’t want to write a book.

80/20 based on outbound:inbound.
Inbound based on increased customer base and market exposure.

Ok- 1 more. Price tag? Sounds SMB ish. If so, heavy call center experience should help with that level of inbound. You could even setup BPO for the top funnel BDR tasking and inbound with live transfers. It’s a process intensive way to go but extremely cost efficient. I’ve had really good luck with offshore talent.

This is great. Thank you very much. Going to model it out for cost analysis. See which level of your suggestion fits best

Was just a bit less than a wild guess without a shitload of data. For the offshore idea, $5-$6/hr is normal. If you end up with a team lead in the same region, think $8-$9 as a point of reference. If you get close I’ve got names 😁. Good luck

Without much to go on my first response would be to try to grow organically, don’t force more hires than you need, and make sure you’re getting feedback from the group in work load and bandwidth. Second thing is prioritize support. If install, training, customer support, is up and running then that new SDR can hit the ground running even fast since the support structure is already in place.

Yes, all support is there. SDR’s west the hearts as first line of support. Going to go minimal based on work load. Do not want them to feel burnt out after potential minimal success with heavy cold call volume at the beginning

We generally grow the team internally unless we get the right talent from out. Learning curve is pretty low with the right onboarding plan.
