is it me, or is outbound 10x harder these days?

can't get people on the phone, ill send hyper personalized emails and get not interested, or the worst: unsubscribe, and it's been tough.

i sell customer success software to CS leaders.

Anything working for people lately? much ❤️

Yes, it's hard. People left offices and are slow returning, and aren't answering their office phones (that they're not at) and have stopped answering their mobiles. That means email/LI outreach is about it. And they're getting carpet bombed. So, you need to make your outreach brief and meaningful, and hope you are reaching your ICP at the right time.

wallets are tightening, thats for sure. But I don't know if outbound is any different than a year ago. Are you just not booking anything? Or are you not able to connect?

yes it is harder. ppl are jaded, ppl hate spammy fluffy out reach more then ever, and its even harder to get into ppl inboxes then ever before.

Thats why you have to get good at multiple channels. (email, call, linked in, )

Screening technologies, email filtering are all becoming more and more advanced. It's forcing outbound to be very, very specific. Keep swimming, it's certainly not helping that the market is tanking overall. Budgets are tighter.

Remember that buyers have already researched 70% of the buying cycle. Leverage tools <Insert CRM> navigator :) and others that provide customer intentions to increase the probability of a return call/email. I've also seen some cool mass voicemail software recently that allows you to cast a wide, albeit, generic net. There are multiple schools of thought on that one though. Good luck!

just hard to speak to people who are not in the office + They also had the CV19 excuses the last few years

Nobody has mentioned the IOS 16 issue. This is very real. Devices are calling your number spam if it’s in the national spam database OR if it doesn’t recognize your number. Check with your IT dept if they’re aware of a workaround tool. There are a few out there. Also, text your prospects. Try it.

I noticed this for sure at my last job, but the industry I sell into now necessitates people being in the office with publicly available phone number & emails.
Really fortunate and glad I am where I am.

It is hard for sure but that means less sales people will make it, leaving the low hanging fruit for you. At the end of the day, if you have a product that solves a problem for a business then you are good. Because referrals are huge and when people are happy they mostly always get you more business. This is also creating a larger opportunity for prospecting tools to be of use. So maybe consider working for a prospecting company and selling based on the idea that prospecting and outbound are hard right now? ;p

I sell to supply chain find cold calling still works (mostly cells from zoominfo) in 9 months probably booked 4/5 meetings via email.
I think companies gotta focus more on marketing to fill the pipeline it’s rough and saturated out there

I have found success with emails titled with the question I need an answer to...for instance if they are even interested...

Connection rates are down overall, especially due to automation of outbound. Have you checked out using Orum?

During good economic times - prospects have a myriad of soft excuses not to talk/explore improvements.
During tough economic times like these - folks quickly lean on the market conditions.
Don't give up. Keep pushing. Prove your product's value. It will be ok.

Indeed, it's tougher - the best course of action is to keep testing different narratives to your outreach. Although you're already adding personalization, your pitch can still fall into a generic pitch without you noticing it.
Best of luck!

People hide behind emails nowadays. It’s incredibly difficult.
