It's finally here...

Happy to have joined @1nbatopshotfan as one of the cool kids, despite many delays.

This bad boy just arrived today, thankfully the guy helped me carry it into my house and leave it by the door to my deck.

I had originally ordered the bronze, and when I hadn't gotten any updates I reached out and learned it was backordered, so switched up to the classic black. Because they messed up and never got in touch, I was offered a $50 gift card. I put on my (figurative*) sales hat and negotiated a grill cover instead, worth a little over $100 with tax.

*figurative because I was saving up my commish for this beast

That is awesome and love my traeger. Did poor man burnt ends yesterday for lunches all week. I have the older model that doesn’t have Bluetooth set up in it but have heard really good things about the Bluetooth set up.

So what will be the first thing you will be smoking on it?

Amazing, fell in love with burnt ends on one of many trips to Kansas while I was an AE with the Midwest as my territory.

And not too sure yet, was thinking brisket but going to start simpler. I'm leaning towards ribs.

Getting my roof re-done in the next week or so, which means I have to wait until I set 'er up. (Contract states they're not liable to any damage done to BBQs that aren't moved, so I'm being patient)

Yea, good call to wait on it until the roof is finished. Brisket would be a big jump into the deep end right out the gate but go big or go home.

I started simple with a pork butt and did pulled pork. Have tackled a few briskets and still the one item that I liked more than anything else was turkey breasts that I marinated in buttermilk overnight with salt and pepper in there. Did a lattice bacon wrap on the turkey breast and they came out awesome. Not to smoky of a flavor and the fat from the bacon kept them moist.

Damn, that all sounds amazing.

And just got a call from the roofers, dropping off materials and will get it done if the weather holds out, otherwise first non-rainy day this week.

You very well may be right. I know legends like @CuriousFox, @funcouponsand others have earned WAY more commission, I think they tend to go for things like GCs (Foxy definitely does).

I’m so happy for you! Grill cover totally worth it, so good for you for negotiating that. Note down the model number, though. They tend to switch up the products a bit, and our Traeger is old enough now that the original cover was discontinued and it took a little sleuthing to find another when it finally needed to be replaced. Also, it’s a greasy mfer so we put an oil pan under it to keep the deck from damage. Enjoy!!!
