Looking to advance.. advice needed

Hey guys,

I am new to this site but I would love to get some advice. Currently I work as a VP in the mortgage world, and in 2021 I cleared about 650k.

Majority of my role is creating business by generating leads and landing deals, however now with mortgage rates in the 7s and 8s almost, I find my self ready for a change in career.

I want to get into a new sales position, whether it’s selling medical devices, or software. I want to sell to businesses rather than to direct consumers like mortgage does.

can anyone help me figure out where to start?

Especially with your Mortgage experience and wanting to get into software, I would try something that combines the two like Zoho.

There’s a lot of guide in the academy section. You might want to explore bravado jobs. Also use the search bar that can give you a lot of insights as this topic is discussed almost everyday. All the best !

hahah wooow $650k? A. thats massive. B. being able to replace that income in 1 year in any new role will be super hard.

I normally tell ppl that if they want to go from non software role, into software sales, you need to look at what software companies will value your experience as a VP in the mortgage world.

idk who those companies are, but do some research on companies that sell to mortgage brokers/banks.

In 2019 I cleared about 250k
in 2020 I cleared about 600k
in 2021 I cleared about 650k plus an additional 150k in extra honuses

however this year, I am not anywhere near that as the market is dead and will take a while to correct. I want to take advantage of this market and get into a field where I can get into a more consistent sales business/field.

I’d like to get into the 200k + range and use my experience as a VP of mortgage, and running a sales team of over 50 people to get a nice role.

very nice.

i think looking for a leadership role makes a ton of sense in this case. so I would lean on your management experience (since 50 ppl is a large team) and look for a company that is in need of someone with leadership experience.

again finding the right company is the hard part. I would still look at what software companies sell to mortgage banks/companies, or whos end users are mortgage reps. your knowledge of that industry and leadership experience would make you a great candidate. i just dont know what companies those are.

You don't want to ride it out for a couple years till when Biden gets unelected, inflation goes down, and interest rates comes more reasonable?

Bought my first house in 2001 at 7.25%. Refinanced over time and have sold/bought another house.

Mortgages will still be required - my monthly mortgage, even at that rate and including insurance, was LESS than renting a smaller flat. So if you're in the "right" market, you're still going to get those qualified buyers who are fed up paying a ton and not building equity. Just saying.

Bravado Jobs is the place to go to. if not that, I can also think some similar searches or discussions might have happened before too. So you can try the search tab !

Fintech for sure. Although you'll be hard pressed to move into a position where you'll make that kind of money.

You've seen massive success - congrats!!
