managing burn out.

tips for vet sdrs to stay motivated?

im just burnt the hellll out and need to try something new. im already doin that outta sight/outta mind shit with my phone & trying to stay away from distractions etc. (im 100% remote)

im usually pretty good at keeping the fire under my ass, forcing myself to get back into the groove. but lately, things have been so much more difficult. between me trying to hit quota and not get layed off, and other shit going on in my own personal life, i feel like i just cannot stay focused. thanks:)

I feel the general suggestion is going to be take some time off and recharge.

Now then what happens when you jump back into the same scenarios and relapse back into that frustration and burnout with higher intensity.

Here is what helped me:

1. Find a community(you have us in the WR)
2. Find and activity or hobby to help release the stress(sports, pottery, etc)
3. I learned this next one from a book. I just finished up.. Once you start getting frustrated or down, imagine and visualize that scenario on paper. and put it through the paper shredder. It sounds silly, but it helps out tremendously.
4. Breathing exercises at scheduled times of the day.

I hope this helps you the way that it has helped me..

Happens to me every couple of months tbh. I just know that Iโ€™m close to the goal and gotta keep pushing. Also Iโ€™ve detached myself from the outcome. I was so focused on becoming an AE that I was burning myself out. Now, Iโ€™m just like wtv I know I will be an AE at some point. Iโ€™m just enjoying life by traveling, doing sports (Muay Thai is a good one), etc. Do you like your work environment/company? That plays a major role.

i know it can be hard to do as an SDR, but taking some time off might be a really good idea.

Was going to suggest the same thing! Sounds like you need a reset. Even if it's just taking a few days off & relaxing at home, it will help clear your mind and allow you to adjust your focus

How long have you been doing the SDR song and dance? I know from experience that it is really easy to burn out on that grind after a couple of years.
Are there any opportunities at your employer to move up the ladder? Sounds like a foray into the world of AE is in order.

It's no wonder you are feeling burned out. You have a stressful job as it is, then add on a cautious economy, layoffs in the news every day, and customers who are harder and harder to reach.
You need a break! You're probably doing a great job, but it's hard to maintain focus in all the noise, 99% of it negative, right now. Take care of yourself.

Hey @bostonsalesgalamazing profile pic btw.
- Do you have any accrued time off/PTO? I would recommend a full disconnect for a full week if possible. No Slack, emails, etc. Get coverage from a colleague and fully unplug.
- Right now, I can't imagine how brutal it must be for SDRs/BDRs. It's an awful market, budgets are restricted and companies are trimming their workforces like some overgrown hedges. Eventually though, credit will loosen and the tide will begin to turn. When that will happen though is anybody's guess.
- You're in the right place to vent, get ideas and boost motivation - whatever you need, we're here.
- I hope the other shit going on in your personal life gets the attention it deserves!
Good luck, and please let me know if I can help in any way.

When the last time you took a day off to relax? That can be a huge help.
Also, try to do walks during the work day. Gives you a great way to reflect.

I know my BDRs going through the same situation- not meeting quota, working extra hours to get qualified leads, not taking time off at all etc etc. I highly recommend taking some timeoff and also have sometime everyday to spend with yourself (just you and no one else) and do what you like/love or plan what you want in life. This reminds me that the current phase is temp and cools me down.

Try to take some time off, it helps a lot&practicing a hobby within the day is also good to keep away the stress and put you in a good mood!

I specialize in helping salespeople with sales burnout, particularly among introverts. It was really the topic of my book (Send me a message on LinkedIn and I'll send you the PDF. Red Stafstrom)

To me, the biggest cause of burnout is lack of efficiency. If you got a sales 100% of the time you picked up the phone, burnout would be virtually non-existent. However, most SDRs probably have a meeting rate of only about 1% or so. It is tough for anyone to stay motivated when they have a 99% failure rate.
Take an hour and think about how you can refine your targeting and messaging. Focus on efficiency. Burnout happens when we are expelling more energy than we are able to recharge. Creating better results with less effort is key to break out of the burnout cycle
