No commissions for 1st year or two -$80K base

What if you were interviewing and you just got the offer.

Then you think it may make sense to talk to the manager to be, because you did not get much time to speak with them.

They tell you that you will more in likely not make any commisions the 1st year due to the sales process, maybe 2 years. The role is actually junior and you are meant to support a sales manager with their admin work, which in turn would teach you about the company. (Hardware company, IPO, Stock Price is in the hundreds of dollars, you get 25 RSUs on a 4 year vest, more in likely will move up the corporate ladder in 2-3 years.)

So what do you do?

If you need a job to keep the lights on and money coming in, you can take this one and keep looking. If you’re not desperate (e.g. still at your current employer) pass, and keep looking.

Laugh in their faces and walk

Unless:
- this is your first job
- this is last resort (financial reasons)

Also is that meant to read 25? 2,500? Or 25,000? Cos 25 is actually a joke

My world is full of 1-5 year sales cycles. $80k is low for me right now but at a much earlier point in my career the equivalent would have been acceptable.

Do you want to make 80k to be someone’s bitch? And when is the last time someone in the position offered for moved to making commission? How many more of those are waiting and how fast will you burn out? Pass next.

Depends where you are in your career... Do you need a longer stint in your resume? Do you need experience and stable job? How's your current role?

I need nothing, just saw a rising stock price and wanted some of the action. Theres no money at account manager, more at senior level.

In my specific current circumstance, I'd take it. I'd probably take it even if it paid half what it paid. If you have other options, I'd go for those and pass on this one.

There's a lack of context here for anyone to really help you with this decision. Just how Junior are you? Is this a fresh out of college job? Change of industry? What's the next role after year 2? What's the comp jump in 2 years if you stick it out? What's the sentiment of the company?

Senior or Mid reps here saying cut bait and move on are leaning on their existing experience but without really knowing your circumstance it's impossible to give you proper advice.
One of the best jobs I ever had was taking a massive cut for two years to be the admin of one of the top performing teams nationally. I learned a ton and ended up working with that team for 6 years.

I get that.

Looking at glassdoor the company is just horrible at the end of the day.

I had the same thought process as you, just the only issue is that I spoke with several people there and many are looking to move on and are frustrated with the current company.

I think I would move over if I can take a senior role. I have 3 years of sales experience, 2 years in industry.
