No idea how to market/sell this product - no demos booked in weeks

Hey all, I find myself as the sole sales/marketing person at my small company

Selling a website platform for electronic components companies that also helps with their massive amounts of data which traditionally makes ecommerce hard + expensive for them

it's actually a great solution considering how expensive their other options are, and once someone actually SEES a demo they're almost sold instantly

However, I am having trouble setting demos at all. I add 40-50 people to my email sequence per day, send them all Linkedin connections, cold call. My email open rates are not bad at all. But no one will actually book a demo.

To be fair, I am literally the only person on the GTM team. I post once a week on Linkedin but idk what else I should do marketing wise??

Any advice is welcome. I have no idea what else to do besides cold calling and emailing like I already am. I haven't set a demo in a month and I'm starting to lose hope honestly.

damn dude this sounds hard.

I would start thinking about what part of the demo people love.

record that aspect, send it in emails, put it on liked in send it in DMs something like that.

just posted one of the templates, for linkedin posts should I just make short posts daily or mix up the lengths you think?

Not sure about LI but for Twitter, it’s 2-3 posts daily plus 2-3 threads a week. I presume for LI it’d be similar. There’s apps that help with scheduling posts like HypeFury. AI can also be incorporated. Also, comment on posts often before reaching out individually helps as well. Best of luck

that's rough and its a tough time of year to get people interested.

Sounds like you're putting in the work. Are there any old Trade Show/Conference leads you can work? Any other lead lists?

Let me sell. Can you get me on for like a one month contract? I’ll figure out the funnel and you can run with it. Send me a message.

Have you sold anything yet? Because a short video as TennisandSales suggested plus a "x company LOVED how y solution resolved z problem" message could help a lot. Can you get testimonials on your site? Customer references? Any soundbites about why they chose your product? Those are the things I would be using to get traction.

The best action plan here. Show your value. Make them want to talk to you.

yeah I could do that! We have some super dry case studies/white papers but I can try to make some short videos or ask for reviews from current customers

here's one version of the first email - I've tried shorter and longer and both get good open rates and very very low demos booked :-(

Are you doing more spray and pray? How much luck on tailoring?

I used to spend a lot of time making them really personalized in the first sentence but not much luck, so its more spray and pray now. I'll go back to the shortened version again and try that way mb

Are you reaching out to the right person at the right stage of the company?

that's another tricky part - I reach out to GM and heads of sales/marketing but these are kinda old schooley type companies. People that stay at the same company for like decades and change is very slow. one of the few demos I booked was a newer GM who was already trying to update their system at the time

Look into Lavendar. Idk is this hits the mark or not, but ask questions and start a conversation...don't pitch.

Hey George,

As budgets tighten, doing more with less is crucial.

When customers search for parts, SEO can make or break sales.

What resources are you using to help boost your name to the top?

What’s the business model? Do you have free trial that the prospects can sign up for themselves?

I would have a short demo in my email + website. Do you run webinars?

I have never run a webinar no, not sure how to go about it

On the website all the pricing is there and they can technically sign up themselves, however a free trial is tough to do with our product (trust me I've asked if we could offer one)

We're about to launch a couple free trial options for just the data management feature and some of the website functionality (basically a snippet of code instead of a total overhaul) so hopefully that helps but it won't be for a couple months

Sales is two parts... getting people into the room and negotiating the terms of the deal. It looks like you're struggling with the first part. A great product that is hard to get people into a room to pitch and demo. I would recommend defining your ICP(s) and tag team with Marketing/RevOps to build some targeted lists with relevant content to push to those contacts. If you're strapped in the resourcing on the Marketing side then the leadership team should outsource an agency to do that lift.
