Markets in their favor very simple. More people looking for jobs than jobs available. Drives down pay.

In my experience, it's next to impossible to get an interview for anything that pays higher than $50k base/$75k OTE. For reference, I've got almost 9 years of sales experience, 3 of which have been in the B2B software space. I'm currently an AE (looking for a better role) and I've only managed 2 AE interviews since March, both were via an agency recruiter.

Today's was 65k base 110k ote which isn't ideal because if I have to do more work at a cheaper rate. How's your current role?

My current role sucks. Pay is bad: $50k base/$75k OTE. I'm selling monthly software subscriptions to microbusinesses, solopreneurs, creative consultants, etc. I've been looking for another since I accepted this one (was laid off and didn't want to be unemployed). Also, I'm on a PIP (not for lack of effort either) and will probably be fired by the end of next week if I don't pull $1200 of MRR out of my rear end.

SDR = entry level position. The expectation is minimal skills/experience = minimal pay. Unless you bring more to the table, why should you expect more play?

Let me clarify, there was so much hype around the role that it started to sound like every other position I applied for

you're not impressed with the way SDRs are being treated. by dry and generic, you actually mean over hyped?

what are you expecting? what do you want? someone to say hey this role sucks, you're going to send 700 emails a week and make 500 calls, maybe you'll get a meeting???

you're being too picky, if you want to be in sales, put in the work. SDRs are meeting setters. if you're interested in pats on the back and glory either be a great SDR or maybe you should look into a different career?
