PIP plan

How would one combat a PIP plan when at the beginning of the year the territory shrinks after quotas are distributed and the way most people hit their number is through inbound sales

Would be a good response if I didn’t already hammer outbound each day

If you are doing everything you should be, and the numbers are still not shaking out in your favor, maybe it's time to ask if its the GTM strategy or is it maybe you just aren't a fit for what you are doing.

Can you provide some context? Is the PIP attainable with some effort, or outrageous? Have you been with the company a while, or are you new? Is this common for this company?

Relatively new(<1 year) something they will do and have done in the past. Started off Q1 at 100% closures month to month and in Q2 they took one state away from my territory since a colleague complained about their own territory but did not change my quota

Ok, so yes, that does suck, but is that PIP beatable?

Nothing in writing but manager is making it sound like he wants to make sure I can get but it’s ultimately not up to him

Clearly, you need to get this in writing. Also ensure anything they do in terms of performance management is in line with your local jurisdiction.

Definitely need to have it in writing.

And sad to say, it’s often common to have quotas stay the same as teams grow, etc. if we add another EAE at my place, I know for sure my quota will not be going down. I’ll have to find ways to either bring in more pipe, or close more of the existing pipe, or both, to make my number.

Quota up, territory down, pip in hand? you're getting pushed out my friend. User name checks out though if you're blind to this.

Agreed. It's a harsh reality, but if you are truly and absolutely putting in 100% effort and they still shrunk your territory and put you on PIP? I'd focus on my resume and start interviewing even if the job market is hot garbage right meow. It's good to practice telling your story and what it's going to look like if you can't beat the PIP.

Sounds like you’re focused on lack of inbound and lack of territory. Bad focus. Obviously there’s a need for the solution or there would be no inbound. Find people who need it, put on blinders and sell shit.

Well, you have 2 options, accept your fate of the PIP, or figure it out by outbounding and expanding your pipeline.

My daily pip plan would be as follows:

Plan to have at least 1-2 job interviews per day
Submit 7 job applications
Reach out to 2 old colleagues that have moved to different orgs
Start applying!
