Selling OTP vs Selling FTF

Good day Savages!

So I have around 7 years of experience selling over the phone and it has its pros and cons, being hung up on many times perhaps is one of the biggest cons you know the business right!!

But I never tried actually selling Face to Face so I have some questions here!

Does it work better than doing it OTP in terms of targets, closing rate or even communication with the customer and what's its Cons if it still has any!!

Feel Free to ping me here especially those guys who experienced the two of them I would deeply appreciate it if you share the key differences to determine what my future options are !!!

Love ya all!!!

so when you say "over the phone" does that include Zoom calls?

ive never done sales purely over the phone where you never see them, or never have more than one person on the line.

it really depends on the product. I do feel like there is more opportunity to be doing sales out side of just talking on the phone.

I assume the prospects you would phone are in driving distance? Is this B2C or B2B?

The more transactional a product is, the more it can be done via phone. I have found using the phone to get the F2F so that you can discover/pitch/close. Depends on the product/service - F2F can be a time waste. The best way to counter the time suck is to group F2F visits geographically.

Really depends on the product. If itโ€™s a product with a one call close, then I wouldnโ€™t say it makes that much sense to do FTF

Historically this is what I have found in both roles.

The role that I was in was B2C and we were basically like a boiler room type setting in a shitty call center type office. We had both OTP teams and FTF teams and I worked in both.

FTF had a higher close rate vs. OTP because they couldn't get away from me. My revenue per sale was higher in FTF vs. OTP but with that being said OTP sales gave me the ability to make more money vs. FTF.

I could target more people throughout the day and filter through the BS of hang ups to get to qualified purchasers (Smile and Dial). My close rate may have been % points lower but my volume was significantly higher in OTP.

I preferred the FTF sales and due to my time doing OTP sales that helped me more with FTF because I knew when to shut up and listen and when to push harder like I did on the phone.

It really depends what you sell and how transnational the business is, whatโ€™s the next steps after the first call - is it the commercials or demos or what.

Very very broad question.

Complex sales are much easier FTF. I prefer the phone/zoom and the comfort of my own home, but being in person builds the relationship so much better

You be surprised by how much of a F2F sales rep's job is done OTP.
