Sending Gifts to leads? Worth it?

my company allows us to send little gifts to companies (brownies, coffee mugs, etc)

I hear mixed reviews on whether this is worth it or not and is a good use of time.

any opinions on this or anyone have any deals close from sending an introductory gift? thanks!

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
I always say no unless it’s in person. For example I did a presentation for a client this week and brought bagels and coffee. Fill their stomachs and they are more receptive to your message.

But I would never just send a door dash of bagels and coffee. Maybe if it was a birthday, but even that is pushing it unless you are very close to them.

Sendoso makes it easy to send a virtual coffee to someone. I’ve had a lot of success doing that when I can’t drop in and bring a gift. But in person food always rules - especially fat and carbs.

Also with the coffee gift cards I send I always frame it around “snag a coffee on me, excited to chat next week / let me know when we can connect”. Something like that.

I think it’s fun, and there’s nothing wrong with spreading some goodwill.

I dig your handle. Maybe go by your full name, Mr Breach? Yeah, gists are a good idea.

Anything personal that you do makes you stand out. Even though the lead won’t buy from you, they’ll surely remember you.

Are you local to your customers? Better to drop off in person.

If it’s not a bottle of whiskey, shout out Salesloft, don’t bother.

Leads? No that’s bit much for someone you haven’t worked with yet. Long standing relationships absolutely

I'd say it is totally worth it with the right context behind it

I used to do this. I didn't notice an incredible amount of success at first, started finding coffee lovers on linkedin and targeted them and worked like a charm. People rarely would take a gift and not a meeting. Only ever happened to me once and was with a prospect who was interested in our solution. Dude was pretty high up on RedBulls team and snatched the coffee and ghosted us for 6 months.

I did send an Alumni Sweatshirt to one of the global heads of benefits at Nike which got us a meeting.

Note- this was back when i was selling benefits to HR people and HR people are the friendliest prospects I've ever reached out to

Have a lot of friends at big companies who say it flies a little too close to the sun that is their company’s policies on bribery — might be a bit EMEA specific but do not do so for that reason.
