Should i jump ship?

Background

Current: 2+ years in role, promoted this year. Getting more responsibility and generally happy. Company is a Large saas provider that should be stable through any economic issues.

Base: 82k OTE: $165, outperformed last year but no guarantee this year on track so far YTD.

Offer: Smaller SaaS org, ~100m in revenue. Role is more up market in company revenue, but still upper mid market (~1B). Base $130k OTE $240k+equity

Do i jump ship and start over with the higher base and hope the smaller org gets me to management quicker, or dig in at my current role?

Alternatively, how would you approach leveraging offer into a better deal at the current role.

Is your goal more money or to get to management?  It sounds like its more the later.

The ~$50k base increase interests me more than anything.  You will find that in salary negotiations people value you more, the more you make.  They don't care so much about titles once you get to negotiating.  And OTE is...well its just OTE.

Where would you be happiest?  Sounds like your current company should weather you through the storm of the next 2 years (yes, I firmly believe we are mid-way through a 2 year economic storm).

Definitely, personally, I would stay where I'm at if another company offered me the same kind of pay raise. Mostly because I'm really happy and not at all worried about job security where I'm at.

Besides, you can always use the offer to negotiate something for yourself at current company. Be that a raise, or promotion which should come with a raise.

Goal is management for sure.  It just feels like a lot of money to turn down.  But I worry about being short sighted.

The "generally happy" caught my eyeballs most. Might wanna stay; especially in this pump and dump market.

Couldnt agree more. Is $48k minus taxes really worth it for that risk of hating every day?

thats a MASSIVE jump in base. wow! Congrats for just getting that offer haha.

Thats.....alot of money to turn down in my eyes.

I actully did JUST this recently haha. But to an even smaller company.

it depends on what sort of chaos you are ok with.

at $100M in rev things might be more smooth but generally when you go to small companies there are less processes in place, more of a need to figure it out on your own, less resources.

but thats not bad if you like to build things.

Depends on how you see yourself growing. Once contractions start, people get axed. Are you comfortable enough in your position? Will the new role give you more territory? More importantly, are you trying to have us talk you out of leaving? If the last one is yes, you already made your decision.

Do you really want management? Think about being responsible for a number 10x larger than the one you have now and it’s controlled entirely not by you but a team of people. If that answer is yes then go for it

I’m in a similar situation and just turned down a similar offer from a smaller company. I’m on track for target this year and with all the economic turmoil going on the bird in the hand felt safer. That said…now that I know my market value I’m actively interviewing for other large companies. I plan to land an offer I would be ok leaving my current company for and then use it to negotiate a raise. If I get a raise, I’ll stay at my company. If I dont, I’ll take the new offer.

many things to consider besides money my dude.

are you willing to deal with growing pains?
Is the money worth that headache?
Do they have everything already built out?
Will they be able to support you?
Do you want to grow in this way?
If you go to this you'll probably shoot up the ladder...?

$100MM is a successful SaaS company. I’d jump ship immediately.
