Should I negotiate my salary in person or thorough email ?

I need some advice from seasoned veterans in the tech sales. I recently received a job offer with a decent base of $55k + comm. with the ability of OTE of $90k-100k. My question is should ask for a 10% increase for the base right away or give myself 3 months in the role to see my performance then go in for the kill ?

Based on your past history you're entry level - you don't really have any leverage to be asking for a base increase if you're coming in with no experience or track record unless the base was way below market average. 55k seems on the money for most cities so in the US, so if you like the opportunity I suggest you take it and ask for a raise when you have the performance and numbers to back it up (it'll take longer than three months...you're barely past training at that point.)

Trying to negotiate via email is useless, always do it in person (or over the phone if you work remotely.)

If you're going to negotiate, definitely do it in person. It is SO much easier for them to respond with a quick 'no' & that be the end of that over email. If it's in person, at least it will be more of a discussion & you will be able to get a read on their initial reaction

If you want to negotiate, do it now and in person/phone. It doesn't guarantee you will get a raise in 3 months unless mentioned in your offer letter. All the best!

Unless they've made it clear you're the front runner, I would take the offer. It all depends on leverage and unless you're bringing a book of business or deeply valued experience, like @funcoupons said, you are still in entry level. Once you prove yourself, then yes go ask.
Always let your numbers talk for you so it's easy to justify the ask. Like any sale, you have to earn the right to ask.

But you're only three months in...?

So I'm at 60 base +100k OTE and been a bdr at my company for 9 months. I've been over 100% each month and I'll ask for around 10% on my base because realistically I'm making good commission. Like funcoupons said, you need the numbers.

I wouldn't ask 3 month in if you haven't sourced major deals or hit your numbers consistently. Just my two cents, but your comp is pretty decent for an SDR. Its also in line with repvue that I'd check out as well. I'd focus on killing it. The commission you make will even out the raise you're looking for if you don't get it.

Did you happen to ask them what the raise structure looks like or how happen it takes place/stipulations for a raise? Might be a question worth having before you start, and could give you a good idea of if there is room to negotiate right now.

Why would you ever negotiate via email?  Seriously.  Given the option, face to face is king.
