Starting SDR in a Few Days. How Much Will I Make This Month?

I'm starting my first position in Sales as an SDR this month. I'm pretty much on my own financially so I've been really tight about my budget for every month. I know that most new positions are spent getting training, but since Sales is so commission-focused, should I expect to make much less than I would normally for the first month? Operating at a 50k base + 25k OTE + uncapped commission payrate.

If this is first position as well, I would plan on not being at full pay for a few months probably.

Uncapped is a fantasy. When HR sleaze uses that garbage to recruit it can sound like a lottery ticket. It ain’t. Sure, they’ll pay you on every deal you touch. But how many can you touch?

Put in the hours and hit your targets. You do that and you’ll start to track $75k after you’re ramped up.

I understand that the benefit of uncapped commission is largely dependent on how much work you put into it, as is all of Sales it seems, but this question is focused on the first few months of being in Sales not a question about overall compensation

Answered already. You can expect to earn the base while you train unless otherwise specified.

Since you are starting out, keep at least a quarter or two where you won't full commissions. That's completely fine. Focus then on building a strong pipe and learning the art.

The compensations sounds fair to me - I will let the experts take that up. But yeah, always always focus on hitting 100+ : Month on Month or quarter on quarter if you really want to make money. No rest. Only grill.

Always budget off your base. The rest isn’t real until it hits your account. And that can be months out when you join a new company.

uncapped vs capped really should stop being discussed in the manner that it is. You aren't likely to make what they are saying you will unless there is a ramp and all.

Stop posting until you’ve started and have edited onboarding/ramp. Your earnings and quota attainment mean absolutely nothing if you don’t take your first 30-90 days seriously and without a notion that you’re going to blow it all out of the water.

Be a sponge. Soak everything in. Resist the urge to feel smart, because you simply aren’t.

Ok, and does your base salary not cover them?

Commission is not a reliant means of income. One month you’re 120% and then next you’re 40% of goal. It’s called variable pay after all.

You can’t focus on the end goal when you’re not even at the start line, yeah?

You'll probably spend your first month in training/onboarding so I wouldn't plan on making more than base.

And don't forget about taxes and 401k. Lots of newly employed forgot to factor that in.

Don't take the commish into consideration at least for now ,till you pass the Ramp time successfully, so that you would be entitled for the full uncapped commission pay rate.
