Take the quota?

Unfortunately had to let my relatively new BDR go last week. Sucked cause they were my first hire in my new market and only person on same hours as me so was nice to have the company on call blocks, slack etc.

My question is, the deal we closed from the meeting they booked, should I ask that to be factored into my quota achieved so far?

Not a huge deal, but every little helps given that I did the demo, trial, and now account management (gave them the commish) but want to avoid taking on their quota too ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm not following how a deal you closed wouldn't be against your quota... but I'm not in your org. I always lean on taking the deal, but it sounds like you should talk this out with your boss to make sure you aren't screwing yourself somehow?

Agreed with @Filthiโ€™m not sure what the hell youโ€™re asking.

Should you get quota relief for a deal you closed and gave as charity to a subordinate that got fired a week in? Yes.

But you explained it so damn poorly, Iโ€™m not even sure if thatโ€™s the situation.

Agreed. I voted no only because this post lacks any detail whatsoever..

What? Do BDRs in your org close deals or are you looking to take credit for someone else's work?

Yeah, very poorly explained which kind of leads me to believe he doesnโ€™t deserve the deal and leaving some details out.

โ€the deal we closed from the meeting they booked.โ€

Heโ€™s a senior BDR so i donโ€™t think he closed shit and by โ€œweโ€, he means the company. By โ€œtheyโ€ he means the guy who got axed.

If Iโ€™m understanding it correctly here, you donโ€™t deserve shit. You didnโ€™t do anything.

Hahaha a little spicier than I was expecting ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sorry folks for those that didn't understand, my bad. Didn't explain it well I gather.

We are a small sales team so have a bit of a different structure than maybe what others are used to. all the sales reps are BDR/SDRs.

I asked this former colleague to do the discovery call for me to help give them experience in this. I managed the entire process from there, like I do with all my other deals and they shadowed.

For process training, my manager and I thought it might be a good experience to allow them to act as if they were the deal owner and work them through the sales funnel, just with me doing the bulk of the work (demo, trial, check-ins, contracts, implementation, account management).

As the deal was in their name, and as a motivator I suppose, we thought we'd contribute that deal to their target and give them the commission.

But now they are gone and just thought I'd get some thoughts on it adding to my target

So you did all the work that resulted in the sale happening and your idea and everyone else's was to give the guy the reward?

Fucking heart of gold over here, but now you want to ask for it back?

Don't be a dick. Ask the company to pay the guy what's owed. When this shit happens to you on a deal, you'll regret not having done so.

If you closed the deal shouldn't you already be getting the credit?

Yes I got the credit, the bosses know I handled it all and it's why it closed, but we just appropriated the value to the new colleague's target. Like I said, small team, different structure, thought it might help them lead to more deals on their own.
