Yes. I am staking this bold claim. It is definitive.
Who is this for, you ask?
- every new person to the WR that inevitably asks this question without using the search bar
- for veterans of the WR to point people to easily; copy/paste this shit so you don't have to type the words "use the search bar" for the 23rd time today
First, there are TONS of great posts already in the WR about how to land a great sales job. For example, @funcoupons has an amazing guide. @SADNESSLieutenant posted great stuff on their experience. Not trying to discredit anyone else's stories but they were the first person that came to mind with posts on this topic. You'd do well to read them all!
Now on to the good stuff!
In my endless journey of collecting half-decent sales content, just this week I listened to a podcast episode and read a linked post that together, in my opinion, summarizes the ideal way to truly sniff out, hunt, and kill your next sales job. Even if your target company isn't hiring.
DISCLAIMER: this is not exhaustive, but these resources contain about 99% of what I've found to be sound advice when job searching (including the 2 bonus threads at the bottom). Hell, even if you're not in sales, you should be doing this!
THE MINDSET - it takes tenacity, grit, and a creative approach. Love him or hate him, this is a solid post (screenshot also attached) and his SDR did it right. Take this approach, make it your own and combine it with the below.
THE ACTIONABLE TIPS - Love 'em or hate 'em, the boys at 30 MPC ALWAYS give practical advice. This episode is FIRE and provides a concise framework of what to do every step from finding a decent company (even startups) to negotiating the offer.
To veterans of the WR, this might be old news but that's why for you it's meant to be a resource to pass along if you agree or add to with your sage wisdom without having to type it all out. But from what I've gathered, majority of sales people don't know how to do this.
Bonus: 2 sub-categories within this topic already in the WR:

Shout out to the people who actually wrote this content, I simply collected it to put it all in one place for people to (hopefully) find easily.
