The blood is still spurting from the open wound.

Some folks here did not get paid Friday and may not get paid this Wednesday (for bi-monthly). Some startups represented here have been in death mode for a weekend figuring out how to survive beyond March.

Let’s let the dust settle a little before we talk about our replacements.

Forward on the current path. No one has blown out the bridge—so anyone diverting en mass would cause further panic.

1. find out who/what are winning while tech is losing to help the unfortunates in tech find a way to win
2. find trends. what are businesses spending money on? i'm not in tech, but i see the challenges and hear about them. i had tried to get into tech but i'm very hesitant. so i'm finding out where to look

There are still companies hiring, but who has open roles fluctuates as they are filled and/or as positions become available.

"Tech" is incredibly broad. ATM, companies are very risk averse, looking to reduce spend at the moment, and generally be more efficient.

So something that solves those problems is likely going to do well.

AI is a part of tech?

Also, I think tech was in an a bubble for sure that is correcting, but tech and software products are embedded in every industry now. Non-tech verticals rely on tech from everything to accounting, fulfillment, GPS, CRM, etc.

Tech has had bumps along the way since I've been in software sales. There was the dotcom crash in 2001, then the financial crisis in 2008 that had the effect of freezing tech purchases and affected hiring within software companies.

Tech itself is here to stay. There will be corrections - particularly with companies that aren't providing something of value, or are overly redundant. If your tech company is selling a widget that 20 other companies have, and yours isn't one of the top 4-5, you're probably not long for the world.

Just saying, tech isn't going anywhere. Our entire world depends on tech.

Agreed, we just did a hard off ramp from a hypergrowth phase. Things will normalize, but people won't be throwing as much cash around.

HVAC and construction are always looking for people.

A specific sector for some could be temperature controls. Automation of HVAC and lighting is a major portion of large buildings and is starting to extend into things like IP, cloud based services, subscription, mobile/remote applications, and building energy tacking and modeling

hmm hard for me to think about a replacement for tech....i mean there will always be new products...but are you asking if technology as a whole is going to be replaced?.....wouldn't AI just fall under tech?

i'm not trying to replace tech. i'm saying tech is getting destroyed. ALWAYS going to be a need for it, i'm certain it'll bounce back somehow. but business is about leverage. feels like tech is leaving a massive gap that something will try to fill it in with. trying myself to figure out what the right path is, and hopefully help someone else figure that out too. Something is coming to fill the vacuum

AI, yea it's tech probably.

ah ok just trying to understand where you are coming from.

im no expert in this side of things, but i feel like tech and even Saas is getting SO big, that it will always be here. but the next level of saas will be interesting to see.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY I'M NOT REPLACING TECH OR COUNTING IT OUT.

Looking for trends. Where are the people being laid off going? Are they going anywhere? Is there an industry that's in short supply of top salespeople gobbling them up?

Here in Egypt most of the sales roles for people I know are for B2C and they barely complain about it!

I recommend you to try something similar in the US as long as it's not as bad as tech.

Best of luck.
