To people who are in telco sales - I feel lost in learning business processes through the products in the telco world, it's too complex. Can this be simplified?

What’s complex about it? My first AE role was in this realm and it became digestible as I learned deal-by-deal and got to shadow many peole

If you've just started in the industry, then it's common to feel overwhelmed. It happens in almost any industry, tbh, and takes time to learn the industry on top of the solutions, the products, the processes at the company, etc. It is a lot. Try to be patient with yourself and ask lots of questions.

Don’t feel like you need to know everything. Shadow the successful reps and observe how deals are closed. Don’t know something? Tell your client that you’ll confirm with an engineer or your team.

Doesn’t matter what you sell, you’ll always feel overwhelmed at the beginning. Try to take what you learn and teach it to someone that is 5-7 years old. Make it easy to digest and quick to the point. You’ll learn over time.

A lot of it has to deal with the size of the company and the regulatory requirements of the telco. It’s just a pain in the ass.

I hear you, at the same time, I am actually super curious about how a small-mid-size company in the telco domain handles these complexities starting from quote to order management processes...what would be your thoughts on this?

Just process really. Dealing with levels of compliance and procurement. Knowing that you need to add weeks to everything you do.
