U have virtual assistant but boss doesn’t , would you ?

so let's say you work for large corp and feel overwhelmed with a few tasks and know that you can and want to have VA do some jobs on scheduling and ops to free up your time. Your boss is too traditional corp bozo and doesn't get the idea of Virtual Assistant. Having an assistant in company is this only for high rank privileged bosses.

if I just pay for it and have VA respond to some type of emails and manage my calendar, will that be a bad thing?

if I ask or try to persuade bosses I know it will be shut down at the first go. should I go do it and seek pardon later if it really upset people?

comment on my approach, should I be worried ?

I think that's a tough one. They would need your logins for company systems (like email) which could land you in some pretty hot water if you get caught. I could see that being something you lose your job over depending on your boss.

That is an excellent point! Definitely something to be cautious about.

This would be my concern. I wouldn't do it.

Careful treading here because you might be compromising the OpSec for the company's digital assets. Ask twice and then evaluate your responses.

Ah. Tough. If the boss gets to know, it would upset him. And yes, not a lot of people will like this.

But should you tell others that you have a VA? I am not sure. I don't think so.

So the heart of the matter is that you feel overwhelmed and as though you need help. Is this a matter of just a lot going on right now, or do we need to point you to one of the myriad of threads about staying organized? ;)

Seriously, though, what's happening?

Ah, there totally used to be a decent AI email assistant called x.ai but it was acquired and shelved...

Oh I loved it then and sad that I couldn’t find anything like that after it.

So you're giving access to private data to an unapproved 3rd party - passwords, email, company files, etc.?

That's asking for a lawsuit, which they would serve to you just after they fire you and just before the door hits you in ass knocking you into the middle of the street.

What if you hire a VA who responds to emails in your name not as a different person and nobody really knows about it?

Right? That’s what I am kinda thinking. But will this be considered creepy ? At some point I want this excercise to convince my bosses that there is no harm in letting people have VA

Could actually help you to prove your point at that stage that this wasn't even done the "right" way but still made you save so much time and if you manage to put a dollar value to that time to show the bosses as well. I don't think it's creepy in general. You gotta make sure to train the VA about rules of engagement as you could easily step on each other's toes

Seems ripe for disaster. While giving them access to company logins/resources without permission of the company is not a great idea regardless of who they are responding as, if you get caught, I don’t see it ending well for you.

If you are public, this is super risky because of the information the VA has without any sort of contract to the company. Could get you fired or even sued depending on the level of info they have access to. Only way I see it working is if you have the convo with boss and get them to sign off on it

it all depends on your boss.

Im always a fan of having conversations around everything.

Talk to your boss about it. bring it up, lay out the problem, let them know how you want to solve it and what it will mean (and what is doesnt mean)

i bet that will help
