Which things will impress you as an interviewer during the mock portion?

I've gotten a lot of good feedback on here about how to run mock disco/demo's. I feel like I have really dialed it in and improved a ton. BUT, I want to know, what could an interviewee do or say that would make your jaw drop? What makes you think "Wow, no one has ever asked that" or "I wish they would have asked/done this or that". I want to hear from Directors/VPs that interview MM/ENT AEs all the time.

Context: I have my mock stuff down and feel like i have added creative things to the process that will make it a top notch mock but I need to make sure I get this job. It is truly my dream company and opportunity and I need to ensure that the people interviewing say holy shit we need to give this person an offer. The mock is supposed to be a first call with a few contacts at the fake company. Not exactly a demo but just an initial disco call that demonstrates I can run a meeting and qualify them.

I think the mic drop moment you are looking for would be to actually have a strong close. Close your shit. Close yourself. Many candidates miss this important step.

I stand corrected in my "no mic drop" moment. This is it. Absolutely be closing.

If they try to make you uncomfortable by asking an "in the weeds" question, pivot back and ask "why is that important?"

Suggestions on how to ask that in a way that is not so confrontational?

E.G. "Happy to speak to that, but please help me understand what's behind that question."

or "I definitely want to answer that, but there's a lot to cover—where does that fall on your list of priorities vs. [[insert higher priority things here]]?

I don't know that there's a single question or comment you could (or maybe even should) make that would be a mic drop moment in a mock call. It's going to be a cumulation of all the things you do right and possibly better than anything they've seen or heard. It sounds like you are ready to go. Be confident and prepared, and I'm sure you'll be fine. When is the call?

Yeah I guess not a question exactly but just unique actions. But I think the mic drop moment is actually every single step getting executed perfectly. Not a single instance. But one example I found of doing things differently is adding into the UFC stating something like "we have 30 minutes today, is it okay if we use the last 5 minutes to talk about where we might go from here even if we part ways?" Instead of saying that part of the agenda includes next steps at the end (nick from 30 minutes to p club suggested). Call is end of next week

“Why?”

In this mock call, they’ll throw something at you like “we can’t do that because of X reason” or “We have to have the project done by September” and just ask why. Don’t say anything else, just “why?” It serves to show first that you’re curious (and curiosity is a great trait in this job), and second that you can challenge them confidently without coming across like a jerk.

It’s not as mic-dropping as CuriousFox’s suggestion, but I find that there’s not a sales leader on this planet that won’t take note of that and give you kudos for doing it.

great probing into the info you get. Try to go one level deeper than you normally would before moving to the next topic/question

I’m not an interviewer, but I’ve just gone through a bunch of interviews and was told that what made me stand out were the things I did outside of the mock calls. For example, I sent an email before the mock call "confirming" the call and sent a follow-up email after the call where I included one of their customer case study that was similar to the stuff they said in the call. Essentially emails you’d send if this was a real deal.

This is the type of sfuff I'm looking for. How can I stand out. I love this. I also have a FIRE post email too so that is going to stun them!

I think if it’s clear you did your research. Being able to find a relevant case study to reference during the disco I feel always helps
