Who Are the Key Thought Leaders in real AI Applications?

Anyone found any individuals who really seem to understand the applications of AI in business processes such as business development, marketing, customer service, etc.

I feel like I'm not hearing a ton about how employers are actually leveraging this technology and instead am only hearing about those dumb LinkedIn/Twitter influencers who post "100 AI tools you need to be using"

Anyone in academia? Any C-Suite people who really seem to have a solid pulse on this?

I love this question and hate the subject. Here's why. There is a freaking ocean of people around the globe who have come to believe that ChatGPT is the answer to everything, including genital warts.

They're all connecting to it via API and training there own mini-skinned versions of it. Not one of these "New and Improved, Infused with AI, As Seen On TV!" companies has enough training data. Building an ML model or a generative anything is off the charts expensive, it takes a very long time to build, and mountains of uniformed data to train it.

Here's the thing: Data comes first. Nobody has it! If you want to buy your own instance of Amelia ai, you can have the LLM, but the ProServs that come with it are nuts.

TL;DR - We're still not there yet. Not for any kind of warts. And ChatGPT isn't a business model for anyone other than OpenAI.

That’s why the old saying goes “when there’s a gold rush, be the one selling pickaxes”

Tough to justify the ungodly amount of capital getting shoved into the orgs that are just a UI layer on top of ChatGPT and some shiny exciting APIs. Like OC said, OpenAI will most certainly come out on top here

Ci Papi, pickaxes or denim jeans. Ask Levi Strauss what he was thinking. 😁

It’s an old Mark Twain quote ( I probably bastardized it) but I always heard popularized by Ben Horowitz from a16z

Finish the thought process. Why aren’t you seeing any businesses talking about implementation of AI into their business process?

Right now too expensive, lack of internal resources knowledgeable enough to implement, want to wait and see how their peers or larger comp uses it.

I believe Writer AI has their own LLM, different from ChatGPT. They seem to really have Enterprise customers, too.
