Working at Zoom Video

Anyone work there or have worked there? curious what it's like now.

obviously 2020 was the time to be an AE over there, but I'm in the run for an enterprise associate role.

pretty solid role, part bdr part enterprise ae, still have a quota and good comp.

any throughts?

Lmao what is a part time BDR/AE role? You’re either a BDR or an AE that does all the prospecting and BDR work for yourself.

The fact they are forcing return to office as a remote work enablement company should tell you all you need to know about the culture. Control. Control. Control.

is zoom making everyone come into the office to work? this seems ridiculous!

All very red flags IMO.

It’s called an enterprise associate role. It requires lead gen while also closing smaller deals.

Sounds like you’re being paid to do an AE’s job on, presumably, a BDR budget. Enterprise is meant to be large strategic deals…so that’s even more confusing.

The comp is better than a lot of smb/mm AE’s. I’d basically be paired 1:1 with an enterprise AE. Some account have big whales and it’d be my job to go after the smaller deals which are separate business units that the enterprise AE doesn’t have time to go after. I agree that if they bullshjt me with a lowball offer then I’d have to decline. But if the comp is solid and there is a reasonable quota while gaining enterprise experience, I think it’s a solid option.

The fact that a video conferencing platform requires RTO speaks volumes.

You obviously won’t see the hyper growth they enjoyed. So I imagine it’s your average sass sales roll.

Did you check Glassdoor?

They seem primed for another round of layoffs. This time last year they cut 15% of employees. Stock is 20% of what it was during Covid boom and barely moving.

On the plus side they appear to be seeing enterprise growth, have consistently added new products, and have very low churn.

Advice: ⚠️ Enter at your own risk ⚠️

Meh…2% isn’t that much or that concerning. Everyone is doing layoffs.

Microsoft out here giving away teams, tough to compete with that, especially when a feature is competing with your core product offering.

That being said, if you are on Teams your IT team is pinching pennies.

Agree with what was said. Makes 0 sense a remote enablement software company is forcing their employees to come back. Hypocrites

Commercial office space trends are going to levels pre 08 right now specifically class A commercial spaces. Zoom meetings are gonna stay but the market is gonna get tough. But tons of opportunities for the zoom phone feature and sales intelligence tools they have. A lot of companies are pushing RTO and there’s gonna be a shortage of class A commercial real estate in the near future 🫢

Zoom isnt as strong as webex, teams, slack, or google meet; doesnt mean its a bad place to sell at if they set realistic targets

No chance that Part BDR / Part Enterprise AE is a thing.
