If your business is simple enough, Excel is always a competitor :)
For a B2B sales team, I don't think there's any real competition.
For B2C, or for some niche businesses, I'm sure there are more effective CRM's than SFDC.

Half of my career is built on replacing excel. TBH It's super useful but only so scalable.

Hello sir, would you like to move away from all those time-consuming excel sheets and manual paper-based record keeping you are using?

But then what will all the operations and compliance employees do with their day?

Our mobile applications allow operations to automate some of their manual tasks. But compliance can go to hell.

@abupapiI thought your initial post was in jest. I hope you're not violating the community rules by trying to sell here...

Dynamics is making headway not because it's a better CRM but because it's a better platform and enterprises are heading more and more to a single data model aPaaS and SFDC sucks at that

There aren't any real challengers yet, IMO. A few that nibble around the edges, but no serious contenders.

Hubspot and Dynamics depending on the needs but not sure how much of a threat they are to SFDC at the moment

I don't think they can be touched for large enterprises, but they are such overkill for smaller companies.
HubSpot is definitely great in those circumstances.

M'soft Dynamics is a good solution. I remember Sugar CRM was good too, but that may date me.

There are a ton of niche CRM's. Real Estate, specifically, has a ton. Very small businesses utilize more "all in one" platforms like Thryv.

Close is fucking amazing. I wish every sales org used Close. Check it out if you have not. If I was at a small place as an initial sales hire, I'd kill to implement them

Not a serious challenger at all but it straight up is 100x better.

It's pretty impressive the stronghold they have on this market.

Worked at SFDC. Iโd say no overall. On a deal by deal basis, in some scenarios yes, but as most have said it really depends on client and their needs. They lose deals where itโs very small SMB / the entire deal is about price. Otherwise theyโre competitive in most sales cycles.
In a long term โdoes salesforce fear dynamics/hubspot/etcโ absolutely not. SFDC is more afraid of agile, quick moving startups that can dominate on price, functionality, implementation, etc, in niche markets/verticals.
