Dry Spell

Fellow Savages,

I've been back from paternity leave for three weeks now and have been booking big volume since returning. It feels great. Don't regret the leave for a second.

HOWEVER

I haven't had a deal close since March (which was a great month) and it's bumming me out. Lots of really promising irons in the fire, but nothing moving forward yet...

How do you cope with a dry spell? Aside from binge drinking or other self destructive behavior.

I'm a real gem to be around when all my deals are sitting there, not quite coming in just yet, but not closing. I'm not the most patient person.

So I fill my time with setting up the next batch of cadences and writing my new outbound scripts and working on my target plans. Controlling what I can control.

Also lots of walks, random outbursts of swear words and being snarky with colleagues on internal calls.

I could feel your pain through the screen. Waiting is just the worst. And in my case, if I don't seem busy, my manager will find something.

If you are out for 3 weeks in understandable you haven't closed anything this month. Sounds like you are doing great with what you can control with setting meetings.

Go easy on yourself

It happens and patience is the game, you will have to teach you mind to help you during this. I keep reminding myself this is temporary and awesome days are coming soon.

Just press on.

But a bit more on it, I think itโ€™s important to acknowledge that you are in a dry spell and look for the reasons why youโ€™re in the dry spell. If itโ€™s just that youโ€™ve been gone for a while and like the momentum, acknowledge that and be patient.

If itโ€™s not from simple lack of momentum then you need to ask yourself the tough questions as to why things are not happening at the pace that you want them to happen. And then you need to take appropriate actions.

Finally the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. And all the steps that are in between. So just keep going.

Most importantly; congratulations! ๐Ÿป

Add some extra prospecting in while youโ€™re waiting for deals to close. Take the nervous energy out on the phones not on annoying the prospects youโ€™re about to close.

Watch Giannis Antetokounmpoโ€™s speech. Winners fail all the time, but they always win again.

Patience is the key and just try remind yourself of how good you were before the leave, to let your mind believe that you can do it again as you did last times many times!
