It doesn't come up that much in all honesty, however, I've been told by numerous people to say to them 'Ah, okay, so is it okay for me to send an email to them letting them know I tried to get in touch but you said it wouldn't be of interest?'.Β 

Tried it once or twice and it has actually worked!Β
