First day tips

Hi all, in the middle of my first day as an SDR, absolutely hectic, but super exciting and I'm looking to be proactive right off the bat!!

Is there anything you recommend when starting at a new company? They haven't really built out much onboarding as the team is small but I really want to be proactive and hit the ground running.

You have two eyes, two ears and one mouth. Collect as much data as you can in the next 2 weeks BEFORE you start asking a ton of questions. Also, Check out this post I made, in addition to the article that @CuriousFox brought up, so you can understand the perspective of your onboarding helpers:  https://bravado.co/war-room/posts/i-just-finished-onboarding-3-new-aes-and-here-is-what-i-learned-long-post

Treat it like prison. Find the biggest, baddest AE and punch them right in the nose. Set the tone early.

Or, listen, listen, listen, and then show up early to meetings. Timeliness is something that will impress upon your team that mean business. Especially at the start.

Congrats and all the best mate!

Some tips:

1. Be inquisitive - you don't get unless you ask 2. Learn and make mistakes 3. Build good relationship with your AE and you SDRs and learn tips and tricks that's relevant to your company4. Start making your own SOP - a file where you can document everything you learn, reeource links etc so it's easier for you to find in the future

Meet with senior reps ASAP. AEs, Senior SDRs, CSMs, etc.

Especially if it's not already part of your onboarding plan, but even in addition to. They are your internal resource for what to do/what not to do and you can get started on the right foot with the valuable info they have.

Own that shit. Have bias for action. Ask questions and trust your gut. If your manager sucks come back to the war room.

Love this one. It’s what I always tell new people. You got to own your shit. I’m not here to hold your hand. You’re in charge of your own succes. Own your shit and there are no stupid questions.

Don't rely on the system to carry you. Effort trumps automation. Use technology as a force multiplier but the only reason you'll be successful is if you make it happen. Good luck!

Network with everyone you can think of. Just send a random hi, I'm new here and was wondering if you have time for 30 min intro call People will usually be happy to connect. If people whom you connect with seem nice, check in every 2 weeks if not more often with questions you're wondering about. Ask what your AE wants and how you can best work with them. Participate in events, do trainings and certs. And have fun :) good luck!
